This is pretty true. I ref intramural football at my university, despite having no real love for the game. The intensity of the nerdiness that most guys direct towards it is really kinda unnerving.
This comic reminds me of how when I'd come in late for work I'd give the excuse that I'd been waylaid by "all manner of brigands, ruffians, rapscallions and scoundrels."
