Look just give me the power and you'll have themes for ages. Awesome themes. Themes that would blow out your ass.

the only problem with the winner choosing the next theme is that I am way too lazy to come up with a new theme after every win. I honestly think geebs should just go down the original list of themes and just go through them one by one. Leave any human factor out of it

As for full length stories with the characters, I am dubious only because I am really protective of Juan Chupacabra and would want sole custody of writing him.

And that may be the same with some people and their characters

See, part of the idea for this was that this was kind of the framework for people to tell stories in kind of a shared universe, so I'd hate to limit what characters people could use.

And one problem I have with going down the original list of themes is that a lot of them are terrible.

oh see I am only that way with juan chupacabra

everyone else I create is fair game

I mean, maybe not letting anyone write him is strong

but I'd like some creative control as in NO YOU CANNOT DO THAT STORY ABOUT JUAN WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU kind of thing

Because, see, if you winning means other people can do whatever they want with your idea, it kind of is a back-handed prize f the stories go south

By the way TLB, I'm hiring those laywers that worked the Siegel/Shuster Superboy case and seeking half ownership of Juan Chupacabra. You can still call him Juan, and he can still be a chupacabra, but I now own the fictional Mexico he hails from, as well as his fedora.
also munch how does it feel to be the only two time winner along with this guy

As good as James Franco's pie in Spider-Man 3.

Personally, I like the idea of winners controlling the direction of the next contest, with the caveat that Geebs has veto power, should the idea be retarded. I also like the idea of doing stories with the various characters. Though I think I'd rather just write full comic scripts than prose. And again, let the creator of the character veto/abolish the story from the faux-continuity we build, if they think the story sucks. But personally, I really like the idea of someone writing something featuring one of my characters.

Ideally, I'd really like to get to the point that we have a few really good comic scripts for some of these characters, which people can then turn into some swell little comics.

I'm gonna write a story where TLBs characters admit how much they suck and bow down to all of Munch's characters as their true overlords.

I agree with all of that. One of the contests over in the CBR forums resulted in some dude taking all the characters we made and posting a really crappy comic one page at a time, and I think is still going on. What he did with our characters was pretty retarded, but it's still cool seeing someone dig your stuff enough to do that kind of stuff.

Okay so here's an idea to make sure we get a couple contests done in October. First, I start up a new theme tonight (probably the Super Powered Pets thing). And since it's October, we can close out the month with a special holiday themed contest. And alongside this, we can start working on stories.

The stories don't have to be a contest of any kind, but maybe posting brief outlines in this thread so people can weigh in on them would be the way to go. And possibly giving the creator of the character or characters you use the right to say "now hold on now hold on that is some bullshit"

yes but what of the theme

I want to switch it up! I think the next few themes will be a little less superhero archetype-y like the first and third contests were, and maybe a little less...daunting? than the second

New contest up: SUPER PETS! Link is in the OP. Next contest tentatively scheduled for the 19th, so the vote will be open on Halloween. Expect the next couple months to follow a similar regular theme/holiday theme, with Thanksgiving and Christmas closing out the next two months.

Just picturing a policehat on his head instead of the tophat thing makes me happy.

He should smoke a cigar instead of a pipe, because he's rugged and he's seen some things.

Would a cigar make his face melt?
