Holy shit, four drivers get five-place grid penalties as well.
Everything after "holy shit" was gibberish to me.
I ramble about F1 to the chat.
The qualifying was a huge mess. One Red Bull crashed badly enough to require a new chassis in practice so didn't even start, both Toro Rossos, a McLaren, and a Toyota managed to crash out in qualifying, and of those drivers that did manage to set a qualifying time, four have been penalised by being moved five places back in the starting grid for ignoring warning flags (or, in one case, for creating a hazard by trying to nurse a badly damaged car back to the pits).

Well, I'm out. Gonna call the guy I'm picking up the comp from and then gotta pick that up and some groceries. Providing my service provider did their fucking job I might be on later. If not, I shall see folks tomorrow. Night all.
So apparently the Europe/Lisbon Treaty Thread thread is now an abortion thread.
That makes perfect sense.
Well you see, Treaties are little more than international law, which is analogous to domestic law which those dirty liberals are trying to use to give everyone Aboritions.

Simple progression.
It's more just Kastanj determining the answers to millenia old questions, really.

I really wish there was a university course here (4th year seminar or grad course) that examined the role of secularism & emotion in public policy making, but this probably lies in the realm of the Philosophy department which means Blech.
Although...this might make a good thesis for my 4th year thesis proposal.
how did the part about the cardboard not give it away
Well...he sounded like a really, really pissed off politican who was making passive-aggressive statements as to 'what the hell was the company thinking' in answering the questions to the incident.

The solicitor dealing with my house purchase emailed me at 12:45 am on a Sunday morning.
No it would be F1 racing I think?
I know, right?
You realize this was a comedy sketch right?
Evidently.
I'm starting to suspect that he has some kind of bonus riding on this or something.
Ahh, that would explain it.

Ah. Still, it tops quite a bit of other skits along a similar vein.
Later.
That has to be a Monty Python sketch.
Clarke & Dawe
What in the world leads you to that conclusion?
Deductive reasoning from a priori truths, duh.
_J_'s programming forces him to think the only humor in the world comes from Monty Python.
Possibly _J_ has never seen Monty Python before?
That makes perfect sense.

After reading that thread, how did a small campaign poster completely shift the dialogue?

Our politicians tell people that government is going to kill old people, so it doesn't seem ridiculously far fetched in comparison.

Why you gotta hurt me like that baby?
I didn't even hear that the first time, I was too busy rolling.

"Twenty thousand tons of crude oil."

"A fire."
"Anything else?"
"And the part of the ship that the front fell off."
