i was thinking perhaps doing it at night in the meydenbauer center, when there won't be as many table games going on

but robert would probably frown upon us playing for money, and playing poker for not money is stupid

If the night staff at the hotels are cool, they may let us set up a round table in an unused conference room?

i have a set of 500 chips, i'd probably need more if a lot of people were gonna play

but my no anime/manga fan rule might diminish the amount of people playing

i have chips to bring and stuff, but no tables

i would have to scrounge for tables

or we can just play in the meydenbauer center and distribute the prize money off the premises

$5 tends to generate a lot of money while still making it rounded out enough to where people can't bully. There should, potentially, be re-buys though. Typically we (my group) don't allow people to have more than $10 in chips on the board at a time. They cash in $5 of it and that way it stays resonable in difficulty since it is no-limit. But that's just us.

Usually, the way my friends and I do it, 5 dollars buys 15 in chips... that allows for reasonable betting but thats just my suggestion

Which puts more and more money in the pot for people who play smart to win. I don't see the problem.

it creates an advantage for people who have more money to throw away as opposed to people who set a limit for how much money they are willing to gamble

Just some ideas (either way, i wanna join poker too)

Just trying to pitch in my 2cents here.... We can either do it this way...

    Tournament Style
    - Max of 8 people
    - Everybody pays in $10
    - No cashing out
    - Everybody plays til the top three players remain
    - Rules of betting (small blind/big blind) will change over time to speed up play
    - For the top three players, third place gets his/her money back, second place gets his/her money back plus extra $10, then the first place wins em all.

    Non-Tournament Style
    - Max of 10 (or 11, if we really wanna push it) people
    - Everybody starts the buy-in at $10
    - You can cash out only after an hour of playing (this can change, depends on what people want)
    - If you still want to buy in later in the game, you may do so. However, we can limit the maximum amount of buy in to maybe... $30 or $50. If you still lose after that, then too bad.
    - Game ends when everybody's dead tired (or when it's time to return to PAX).

So that's my take on it. Another suggestion for the Tournament style is that we can also do several stages of it (depends on how many people wanna play that and if we have enough chip/card suppliers). We can have it like maybe two tables of 8 people. Top 4 of each table gets $20 each, then combine the last remaining players, put the $20s to the pot again, top winner gets $100, second gets $40, third gets $20 back.

I have a 300-piece chip set and I work at a casino so I can pretty much get you the cards. Any more suggestions?
