Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence --Thomas Jefferson
I only had to grind two levels, 23 and 24, and it was kind of fun. I got the best drops ever because honestly, you're gonna get a lot more out of many Virago than you are out of little quest runs. It was methodical, like Rend said, and damn, once I figured out what I was doing, the XP was amazing!
Anyone have a short summary of the following for somone who doesn't know much about Aion:
1) How does the crafting / gathering compare to LOTRO or WoW?
2) How solo / duo friendly is the game?
3) What is the end game about?
1) Better than WoW, not as good as LOTRO
2) Very, at least up to 25 (where I'm at)
3) PvP for the most part, it seems. Probably some raiding too, I'd imagine.

Any idea where there is more info about the crafting? Preferably not from NCSoft themselves.
I could give you some general info though. Instead of grinding out a billion of the same item that you will never use they have quests called work orders. You make some crap using some materials they provide and some materials you can buy at a vendor, and then you turn in those items for xp and a random mat/recipe/something.
I do Alchemy, so if you have any specific questions about that I could answer them.
I take it no one is sending invites out form the Sorcelators legion tonight?

I am, actually. But no one is on. And no one ever bothers to check their application after writing it because if they did then they would know that they have clearance to join and are to contact an Officer at their earliest convenience.
Edit: And FYI, neither lore clearly states, "We saw him kill that Dragon Dude's ass." Which means that the door is left open not only to uncertainty, but to the possibility of a fourth faction in the future. Making in PvPvEvE. Interesting notion, isn't it?

We shall Re-Spawn on the beaches, we shall camp the landing grounds,

I'm pretty positive that if some 4th faction had done the killing it would have been noteworthy enough to write down.
Not if they were not seen doing it. You've seen all the wacky stuff Aion made, what if there were some invisible enmy as well? Perhaps what corrupted the Dragons into the Balaur in the first place. And when the Balaur began to consider peace talks...well, if their death can cause renewed warfare then they will still be serving their purpose, won't they?

There is some speculation that with the increase in Quest XP amounts, there will be a stealth nerf to Mob XP amounts, this to discourage botting(and at the same time harm grinding). It's unconfirmed and I haven't been able to dig anything up on it, so take it with a grain of salt.
The "Aether Venom" thing will be very annoying.......VERY annoying.

A lot of little things that've been bugging me are getting fixed. Particularly:
- Right clicking or alt+left clicking an item in your bag while the auction window is open will automatically fill the search input box with the item's name.

In addition to the work orders mentioned, used for skilling, crafted items (like weapons, armor, and accessories) often have a chance to "crit" into a better version of the item. These crit-crafted items are among the best items available for the level (often blue items, in the level I'm at). Armor will crit from green to blue, whereas weapons and accessories are made a little more difficult, where white crits to green, and then that green is used for a better green that might crit to blue (essentially creating double-critted items...).
It's kinda fun. A lot like gambling. And it's better if you don't go in hoping for the crit, or it never happens.

I assume "Aether Venom" is to prevent bots. Sounds worth it to me, if the chance of getting it is suitably low.
I am mainly interested in the flying SM pets, as that was holding me back from levelling my SM.
No flying pets is why i went Sorceror. Now i may have to reroll

They brought down the servers to fix text errors? Why not just wait until tomorrow with the weekly maintenance?

The level 20 stigma, Healing Shroud (or what-have-you), lists in the description that it restores MP when the target is damaged, but the combat log and the little green numbers flying off my character seem to indicate that it is HP being restored.
As a new player I really am enjoying it although at times spawns can be camped to hell and back. Don't know if that will improve as levels increase or what. I'm in search of an active guild and have yet to find one.

Working as intended?
Can't you just watch your HP/MP bars to figure it out?

ForceVoid the tooltip is bugged to say MP but it does restore HP and that is what it is supposed to do. I've personally skipped it as it doesn't seem that useful to me.

It's not that bad, but I actually like the grind. It nets you XP, gold, drops, and it's very methodical. I kind of enjoy that.
Solo grinding makes me want to die.
It's usually fun in a good group tho.
Plus, you only really have to grind 5 levels until Abyss anyway. At least I hope.
Just bring some Odello Powder and attack!

Extremely so.
also that aether venom looks like total bullshit. look I'm sorry botters love your game, but don't push your problems onto me
flying pets will make my spiritmaster friend happy though
