I prefer the PC for playing online with others. Console are obviously the way to go for having people over, which only Nintendo seems to think people do anymore.
That reminds me, can any one of you fine [chat]ers recommend a 360 game for up to 8 player system link gaming?
We've been playing a LOT of halo 3/ODST but it's starting to wear thin.
How is it a piece of shit? Have you ever used it for any amount of time? I don't get this "Live is a premium service" line. I can play online on the PS3 just as easily and often as i do on Live, except I don't have to pay for it on the PS3. For the price of Netflix plus a gold Live account, I could pay for the Netflix Blu-Ray service and get it on the PS3 for free.
I have both systems and I have played them both online.
Xbox Live is just... much better in its implementation. I don't really know how to explain it to you if you haven't used both. It's much more intuitive and powerful. It's easy to create parties where you can chat and easily hop from game to game as a group. It's much easier to track people you've recently played with and talk to them, chat with them, send them friend invites. It's just a much more robust offering. you get what you pay for
I have both. I don't use the parties though, I only have about a dozen people on my 360 friends list, and at most 2 or 3 are on at any given time. It doesn't add any value to it for me, since I'm not using it. On both systems, I just drop into online games at random really.
Well if you don't actually use it or play many games online, then yeah there's no reason to pay for it.
I do use it to play games online, I just don't do it with a group of people. Whatever game I end up in online, I just play with whoever's there.

I completely agree with this.
Admittedly I have limited experience with the new generation of consoles and PC games in the past few years.
The people who made the playstation controllers don't actually have hands, and never consulted with anyone who does
This I can get behind. I hate Play Station's controller that they refuse to improve the actual feel of.
That, and shapes instead of letters.
Not sure if it's true, but supposedly they went with shapes due to the split with Nintendo, and not wanting to risk being sued for copying an A/B/X/Y 4 button configuration, i.e. the SNES controller.
You know what's weird? Using a new 360 controller. The rubber sticks have little notches on them for your thumb to fit into. On all 3 of my controllers, those are completely worn down. So using someone else's new controller just feels weird.

I don't think it is.
No-one can sue anyone for labelling your buttons as letters.

In any case, they shapes are very iconic for their systems. You don't have to memorize where buttons are all over again between systems. Most other systems are like this. N64 -> Gamecube -> Wii. PS1 -> PS2 -> PS3.

Quid, I'm almost to lvl 46 now. :P Just started doing some quests in The Hinterland.
you know how I threw up on a mac this weekend and I don't remember it
well it seems like it wasn't accidental
because I was told I was out of it on the couch
when after a while I rolled of the couch
and started crawling, slowly, towards the mac
and when I reached it
I hurled, and passed out again
Well you usually throw up in trash cans/toilets, so throwing up on a Mac isn't that far off. I mean, you would intentionally throw up in a toilet/trash can, right? I really don't see a problem here.

The Xbox360 controller is bar none the best controller I've ever used. Marathon gaming sessions and absolutely no issues with sweat or hand cramps.
Second best would the SNES controller. Also a wonderful simple design.
I think you might be able to log into it because the messenger gives you a qwerty keyboard, but I wouldn't know, I don't use MSN.
I completely agree with this.

Ever since PS1, the playstation controller has been the best.
Ask rad. She'll tell you... EVERYTHING.

buttons feel good
on the four controllers I regularily use (I own two, which ones specifically are mine is unknown) there's only two issues
the right trigger on one of them kinda hangs ever so slightly after depressing it fully
and the sticks on one is becoming slightly loose
but they're years old
quality!
But it's also way too much money for a controller
And, bar none, the Wii has been the best thing for relationships ever
If I had this, it would mean I could spend the entire day on the couch in front of my xbox when hungover
I don't think it is.

They're also two of the worst.
Seriously GameCube, what the fuck is with your busted ass triggers?
Wheras I probably won't be on for a good bit thanks to Borderlands coming out today!
So uh, see you in a week or so.

Shafted
me too!
It looked awesome
and the fact that you could kill a man with them was a plus
Well done.

Where's my money, slut?
Who knows maybe it'll be terrible and I'll be online tonight!
But then you get a mage buddy!
the subconscious does not lie
a mac is an acceptable place to puke
like a bucket, or a garden, or a toilet
This is making me laugh at work and have people look at me oddly.
And they're for smug elitist assholes. "I'm better than you cause my computer is easier to use."
