Oh God it is so painful.

I do not look forward to Jan/Feb when I hit the wall again.

My body will suicide all over itself.

Why are you waiting until then to climb again?

While I have my ostomy, I am not supposed to do any heavy lifting.

    Climbing qualifies as heavy lifting.

Test shoots for the senior film I am the cinematographer on.

I have so much pressure on me right now! $20,000 of my classmates dollars and then the fact that the vice president of Arri Western division gave us the sought after Arri grant... (free 35mm package) means that he wants an amazing product and the head of the film department expects it to so that Arri keeps giving the grant!

I try not to think about it.

Well, all I can say is, DON'T FUCK UP AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

EDIT: I love you, internet. I love you for giving me access to things like NASA's
LUNAR ROVING VEHICLE OPERATIONS HANDBOOK APPENDIX A

Which features diagrams of things with labels like
    INSULATION BLANKET
15 LAYERS OF ALUMINIZED MYLAR AND NYLON NETTING WITH BETA CLOTH EXTERNAL SURFACES
    and
    SPACE RADIATOR
    and
SPU FUSIBLE MASS & THERMAL STRAP

I have very little clue what any of that means but it sounds cool and sciencey.

That happens to me whenever I pull an allnighter. It sucks enough that I never do those anymore. Shame, because the extra time is fun.

If you get the chance to see them live: do it.

Don't worry about whether or not you like the music or know the songs. You will have a good time.

P.S. Tom Waits was giving away 8 songs off of his upcoming live album for free on his website for any who are interesting (yes I intended to say that).

No one in my office believes me when I tell them halftone dots and grain make it impossible for a jpg scan to be incredibly tiny. Because no one understands how jpg works. They think it's some magic "make the image smaller" trick that works the same no matter what.

I like option A best. B is bad, because they already think I should be able to print thumbnails at full-page with no loss in quality, and give me shit for "making up" reasons why I can't do this. Because, you know, "we never had a problem doing that in the past."

Yeah, this confused me as well. I can see the artifacts maybe messing up the halftones a bit on the really small ones... maybe...

Also... I would never use a jpg for halftones. Depending on the palette, I'd go gif, baby, gif!! Keep those blocks of colour nice and smooth... 8-)

My bad - make the file size smaller.

The problem is that JPG works by compressing areas of similar tone while attempting to preserve hard edges. When you scan something that has already come off a press (or a printed photograph, which is what usually gets handed to me), every dot from the screen is interpreted as another edge, and the file size ends up much larger than if the photo were simply digital to begin with.

Experiment: make a 1000x1000 canvas in Photoshop and fill it with Gaussian noise, full-strength. Now save it as a JPG. That fucker will be huge compared to a smooth image, like a normal photograph (with transitions and fields of color).

I do like gif for simple halftones, but when it gets to be an actual photo, not so much.
