I read the Grant Morrison JLA a little while ago, and Kyle never once bothered with bubbles or blasts. It was nifty in Rebirth too. I am hoping they make a conscious choice to try that more often.
What is the difference between the new Black Mask and the old one? I thought the old one was pretty lame.
New one seems to be pretty capable and clever, hes arranging a ministry of science headed by some of the more fucked up scientific geniuses in comics.

Here is the best page from BN#4, since the rest was filler and DC already spoiled the reveal, basically, and the issue had some usual Geoff Johns "You're the coolest superhero A / no, you're the coolest Superhero B" stuff.
And for some reason Luthor on his screens of the people he's killed has Amanda Waller on it, which makes no sense. Or at least it's someone who looks a lot like her, pudgy black face with short non curly hair
New Avengers #58 was good, but the colorist does not fit the book. Put Moose Baumann or Frank D'Armata on it.
And Ares is pretty cool:
I think they forget that Daken isn't coated in adamantium, that sheild
should've cleaved his head in half

And finally, Dark Avengers: Ares is really really good and reads like Oeming's Ares mini (there is one small political shot in it but it's negligible) and it has this absurd yet funny moment with his motley Rainbow Six squad:

Okay, so the future plot thread comes to a head. It would be a ton to explain, but cutting it short, they completely fuck over the dude who was controlling the sentinels and the Madrox Dupe from the future called Cortex. Except Cortex killed Fitzroy. This was bad, because Fitzroy was the only mutant who could have any effect on Cortex.
Ruby and Layla have a mysterious conversation, along the lines of "We've seen you do it to butterflies and birds and a seal once, it's the same thing". Eventually, Layla is convinced and does her thing to Fitzroy. Fitzroy later appears and helps them take down Cortex and the bad Sentinel guy, as I mentioned before. How is this possible, you ask?

I have Guardians sitting on the living room table behind me. It's the carrot I'm holding in front of me all day, and will be enjoyed with a cool German beer. This will happen.
So Gotham City Siren's explained why Paul Dini's Joker is fine while Morrison's had his face shot.
It isn't the Joker but one of his old henchmen Gaggy, who's been masquerading as Joker in Dini's book. He's jealous of Harley taking over his role as Joker's right hand. I don't know if Dini made up this character on the spot or whether it's an old character from back in the day, but I guess that explains why there was a Joker running around fine in Dini's book when he shouldn't be.
Other moment of the week was Madame Xanadu getting it's regular artist back in Amy Reeder Hadley.
And the Blackest Night stuff wasn't too bad either.

Really good week overall, with the usual great stuff from Nova and Guardians, but I gotta say I was extremely happy with Avengers Initiative:

Man, Darkwarrior, you are just crazy
shut up, TLB!
But, I really want to know how this revelation impacts House of M, it sort of confuses me
And, despite knowing this, we (I'm pretty sure) still don't know why it's Layla's job to keep reality on track, as she says in the scan
I can't get to the store until Friday, so why don't you do what you fucking said you'd do and scan me some GotG goodness. Chop-chop!
Fine! I forgot! I'll do it now!
Hi5, TLB.
Let's Play Final Fantasy 'II' (Ch10 - 5/17/10)
I'm not going to give Guardians a play-by-play because I wouldn't be able to do it justice.
COSMO! There is not an emoticon that can express my sadness.
Right? RIGHT??

I'm completely serious.
Make the Starhawk Kosmo be the new one, keep Warlock dead, I don't care, Kosmo doesn't die.
And I like Craig's art, it just looks good and flows really well
Damn, what the hell, I think we dropped Guardians for... some reason. Fucking hell, I gotta stop allowing my dad to make decisions.
