Actually, Tav, the relative testicle sizes of great apes leads to some pretty interesting conclusions about how biology and social behaviors inter-relate.

because I am calling bullcrap
also make your damn thread so we have a place to argue
I'll look for a citation, but the basic idea is that bonobos, who are very lax in sexual hierarchy and many males will often mate with the same female, have very huge testicles. Meanwhile, gorillas, who have a very strict hierarchy in which one alpha-male mates with a harem of females, have much smaller testicles.
The idea being that bonobos developed better machinery to produce more (and presumably stronger) sperm, as a large part of the competition between males is actually happening inside the female.

i started in october for costume reasons. and to distract from my needing a haircut.
Well Movember was the spur for the mustache
@Bob - I go through cycles of facial hair/haircuts. At the start of the year I had a trim beard with short haircut then this time last year I had handlebars for a month or so. Sometimes its fun to look like a scary used car salesman

I accidentally hit reply without saying anything, I edited it :P.
Arch, I can't seem to find a citation online, but I'm pretty sure it's in the book How The Mind Works by Stephen Pinker. That, or possibly another book by Pinker?
I really can't recall, but I do know I've heard this theory from multiple sources.

ok. I see
but then again, testicular size is a dumb thing to focus on. I see the general point, but a better way to analyze this is to look at sperm count versus seminal discharge (as semen is not 100% sperm) as well as relative motility of sperm in each animal.
because the other conclusion that can be drawn is not one of internal female competition. You can also say that the larger testicles allow for MORE ejaculations, and those that were able to copulate more often would pass their genetics down, instead of...
oh shit you said more already.
ok well on that note that makes sense, but I feel that it is more of a fecundity rather than fertility. I would like to see the sperm please. (that was intentional)

Nansen is watching you masturbate.

Local radio station is doing a top 1k countdown this week. We're on number 10.
i mean fuck. I am married with a kid and i know that shit. also, that is my favorite song of theirs.
Quite a bit actually. Currently, I am a big fan of trip-hop. Amon Tobin's Foley Room is a superb album in almost every way imaginable.

NNID: Hakkekage
i will think of some stuff and pm you either over the weekend or monday
Yeah, Bob just listed the core trinity of trip hop.
I think Tricky probably had a bigger impact on my approach to making electronic music than any other single producer.
