    He's still the best batman

Truest thing ever said on the internet.

I have never met anyone famous, supposedly Gene Snitsky occasionally is seen in one of the malls around here, that's about it. I don't think we're going to get much better than a minor pro wrestler in rural Pennsylvania.

Oh shit, I should tell the convention story of a friend of mine though. He's a big dude, was at some random anime convention in the very crowded dealer room. Turned around and accidentally elbowed an Asian girl so hard in the face he bloodied her nose. Turns out she was Ami from Puffy AmiYumi. She took it well apparently, but he's still going to have a hard time topping that one.

A couple weeks ago I went to go hit some golf balls with my dad and in the club house we bumped into Don Cheadle.

Also, I sort of think forcing someone to register as a sex offender goes against the whole idea of criminals being able to reform, and may be a form of cruel and unusual punishment. On the other hand though, there is the argument that actual sexual deviants can't reform becuase of some such scientific reason.
Alternatively, U.S. criminal justice system is far too bureaucratic at times and as a system to provide justice it is very flawed.

But registering them all as just "sex offender" is so dumb because people automatically associate that with "child molester" even if the dude never touched a child. And having to register for stuff like streaking, public urination, and some cases of statutory? They ruin the lives of people who could actually be productive members of society, and make it impossible for them to even attempt reform. Laws about where they can live cut off entire communities, people won't hire them, and they end violating terms of their probation (regarding a permanent residence and a job) and they end up right back in jail.

the sex offender laws in most of the US are basically totally fucking retarded

    first of all

    check out this: http://www.denverpost.com/ci_4783650
(TL;DR : 13 year old girl has sex with 12 year old boy, as a result both are in violation of a law prohibiting sex with someone under 14. both are considered sex offenders. both are considered victims)

and of course, this poor bastard: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genarlow_Wilson

(17 year old dude gets blowjob from 14 year old chick, is stupid enough to record it, gets busted because of that. even though it's consensual, gets convicted of child molestation. gets 10 years and has to register as a sex offender. law gets acknowledged as stupid, and is changed because of his case, but isn't made retroactive so he's still fucked)

there was a dude in alberta not too long ago

    maybe a year i think

ordered a bunch of loli manga from japan.

customs had randomly inspected his package for some reason or another

decided that it was child pornography (despite conflicting laws on that subject) and informed his local police

    delivered it to him anyway

when he signed for it, bam, on came the cuffs and the news cameras

    hey, what's up, entrapment
oh not much, i guess, you?

so he was charged with various child pornography charges

which were stacked on after they seized his computer and found all kinds of loli and shota junk on his computer

    no real porn

    just drawn stuff

if convicted, he'll have to register as a sex offender

    i mean

for a bunch of drawn pictures

no doubt the dude's a pervert but i mean are we at a point where we are cool with arresting, prosecuting, imprisoning and then registering a dude as a sex offender for what essentially amounts to fiction relating to an activity which is criminal?

i mean i'd probably deck a dude if i knew he jerked it to loli porn

    but like

that's pretty uncomfortably close to thought-crime right there

But with pedophilia, most of those people have problems they don't know how to deal with. I have very little sympathy for people who go out and rape little kids, but jerking it to drawings of children? I mean, who's even the victim here? It's likely that the guy probably was a pedophile but if he can supress his urges through a method that does not harm anyone, then what's the problem?

    exactly

    i mean it's a unilateral agreement that the dude's a pervert

is pretty screwed in the head

    however

i mean i've volunteered with schizophrenic people who, if they aren't properly watched and medicated, will cut out your fucking eyes

    yet

we as a society are cool with those people as long as we can keep them harmlessly in control

we know it's not their fault, so we don't want to just lock them in a room somewhere

however, people don't extend that kind of sympathy when a person's mental illness manifests as unacceptable sexual deviancy.

i can understand the fear that a dude who jerks it to drawings of kids is like, one half-step from jerking it to actual child porn and one step from just raping kids.

but then we're talking about arresting people for having the possibility of committing a crime

i am not okay with that.

The problem is that the majority of the American public has a hard time stomaching the logic of "personal freedom so long as nobody gets hurt". These are the same people that when you try to explain why flag burning needs to be legal, they call you an America-hating terrorist. Very few people in this country recognize that the law of the land can't exactly match up to their every moral stance.

I ran smack into Batista at BWI Airport a couple years ago. The dude is scary huge.

    batistadp2.jpg

I had coffee with Wayne Knight (Newman from 'Seinfeld') at the Space Needle:

    knightenhb4.jpg

Was taking my daughter on her first trip up the Needle to the sky deck, and we rode the elevator up with him and his girlfriend\wife. My kid's a social butterfly, so she started chatting it up with the woman, and it took me a minute to realize who the dude was. I'm a huge Seinfeld fan, but at the time, he'd lost a LOT of weight - barely Newman'esque any more. Introduced myself and my chatty kiddo and told him I loved him in Seinfeld. His lady friend took to my daughter and they went off to the skydeck together and he bought me coffee and we hung out for a total of 10 minutes or so.

    Very cool guy :)

Very few people in this country refuse to recognize that the law of the land can't exactly match up to their every moral stance.

and that's basically the crux of the problem

people don't like laws that make them feel uneasy or don't gel with their personal moral view

they don't like the idea of it being okay for a sex pervert to jerk it to hand-drawn images of a kid getting fucked

because ultimately they are jerking it to a picture of a kid getting fucked

they are sexually aroused and satiated by imagining an act of child molestation

and that's the sort of thing people wished didn't exist, that they consider unpleseant and morally and societally unacceptable

so instead of dealing with the harsh reality of something extremely unpleseant and offensive that will kinda exist whether you make laws about it or not

they'd rather just illegalize and prosecute unilaterally and ignore any nuance of the circumstance
