To be fair, the former option necessitates labor which is a task reserved for the plebes. I have opted for a most regal avatar that need not a monocle to show status.

Hmm that reminds me is there a typically a bourgeoisie/proletariat war in Steampunk? I'm not sure why your post reminded me of this.... I haven't read many novels, but it seems like the setting would lend itself to that sort of political commentary.

Probably helps the only steampunk-ish fantasy writer I know is China Meiville.

edit: On a less pretentious note, did you guys photoshop copy & paste a monocle or just draw it in?

Most Steampunk that I've read has just been flat-out fucking weird. Like Morlock Night, where the Morlocks from The Time Machine steal the machine and head to Victorian-era London, only to be bitch-slapped by a resurrected King Arthur and Merlin.

I never got around to playing Acranum, did that play with class status at all or was it mainly playing around with fantasy tropes and undermining them in a steampunk setting?

I shall switch my vote to pablo_price for his conveniently timed vote into a forming bandwagon. Quite suspicious!

Agreed, despite the fact that I suffered on this very occasion, unless someone does something totally barmy, or is being grudged for a previous offence, then RNGing is indeed the most civilised way.

I say, the length of simonwolf's lead is most unexpected. garrod_ran still has not put a monocle on his guitar, so i am forced to keep my vote as it is.

if simon is in fact innocent, oaklore, hotran, shadowthomas, and delmain pushed simon into a large first place buffer, taking the pressure off of previous vote leader ebfan. this is where i would look next.

OSX does not come with any handy image-editing tools, and I am loathe to install something of the sort for the sole purpose of creating phalla avatars.

If you want to make me a monocleized avatar, I'll take it.

Also, my GMT skills fail me. Does vote close in 1.5 hours?
