Awesome cover. I think what I like about Batistao's work (the storm eagle I posted) is that it stays very close to the "original sound". While I like a good cover with a change-up, I've found that my favorites are the ones that stay as close to the original song as possible.
I've seen the "dear friends" FF symphony concert, years ago. VERY good stuff, totally worth the money.
This is as close as I could find to what I heard at the concert, and it's one of my favorite FF tracks ever. I was very pleased that they played this. They also did a track from FFX that I didn't recognize, and of course, they did One-winged angel (even an encore performance of it). If I recall correctly, they also did "Dancing mad" from FFVI, but it wasn't as popular as the later stuff. I loved it

I did a search for Freedom Fighters music in the thread and was surprised no one posted anything. They did an excellent job with the music in that game; it's one of the few times I've bought a game's soundtrack. For those who aren't familiar with it, Freedom Fighters takes place in New York during a Russian invasion, and you're one of the people fighting back. Here's the title theme:
If this hasn't been mentioned already for shame.
Every Monkey Island game has had a phenomenal soundtrack, The steel drums, flutes and whistles fit the atmosphere so perfectly.
I can't find it because I don't know the specific name for it, but can somebody post the music that plays in Katamari Forever when you're talking to Robo-King? I just love that song.
Anyway I'm sure its been posted, as it better have but search shows nothing and I won't look through 30 pages, but LoM is one of my favorite games and has probably my favorite soundtrack ever.
I was trollin' around last night and made the rather awesome discovery that the folks who did the original Mother soundtrack also did a real spiffed-up instrumental and vocal version of it, and man, it's just so nice.
As cringy as the vocals sometimes get, the whole of it's just so sweet and down to the core of what the game was aiming at in the first place that it's just one gigantic every time I hear some of this stuff.
...
Interesting fact: Eight Melodies was recorded with the St. Paul's Cathedral choir, which while certainely effective is extremily strange considering that Nintendo's cockblocked England on every single direct Mother game.

'The Darkness' a few years back had some great music by Gustaf Grefberg. Shame Youtube doesn't have much of it.
Hey so have you guys hear of this music and gaming festival thing i keep SPAMMING YOU with? Well the final band list and near final guest list has been announced, and there are some god damn awesome video game cover bands playing (like The OneUps and Metroid Metal), and cool guests like sid meier and jon st. john (voice of duke nukem).
Since i love game music(and music in general), love to share my favourite tracks and hear other peoples favourites. I just felt that it would be a shame to have this thead die completly and vanish into obscurity. Besides, its now 1 year and 4 days(at the time of writing)
old!
So i guess i should share some favourites then.

I love this part of the game, and this track is part of the reason.I felt like it fit really well with the area. Though it was extremly frustrating on veteran when the ai partner spazzed out infront of the gatling guns, and i imagine its hell on proffesional.

I just love the beginning, its like whoever made this just threw together all the instruments he could find and tried to get them to fit together somehow. I havent actually played this game so i dont know if the rest of the music in the game is like this, or if the game is any good at all.
Got two piano arrangements here, along with their originals incase you were enough of a fool to miss either of them when you played these games (you did play them right?):

My favourite track in soul calibur 2, and on the coolest stage.
I havent actually played OOE yet, but i remember hearing this song in the trailer.
I just love those shouts, and its so damn catchy. A friend of me had this game and we spent weeks playing it.
Probably one of my favourite MGS tunes, and one of my favourite boss themes. I think i heard an orchestrated version in MGS4 on the ipod once, but ive never heard it again.

This game was scored by a practical dream team of composers, including Yuzo Koshiro and Motoi Sakuraba.

The Spec Ops mission "Suspension" from Modern Warfare 2.
This is probably my favorite track from MW2.
