Last month, sometime after xkcd.com passed 150,000 daily readers, I got an email from United Features Syndicate. They've seen the explosive growth of online comics as an opportunity to reach a younger audience. Last year they began carrying a family-friendly version of Diesel Sweeties, and they told me they were interested in doing the same with xkcd. I considered this offer carefully, and in the end decided that the long-term stability of syndication trumped any concerns over artistic freedom. I accepted their offer, and I'm looking forward to working with them to bring xkcd to a wider audience.
That said, there are going to be a few changes to the comic. Obviously, with the rights signed over to UFS, it will no longer be published under Creative Commons, and all previous strips will be retroactively un-CC'd and relicensed under UFS terms. All online content will be protected via proprietary DRM. I also recieved a letter outlining topics and content that would be off-limits in the new xkcd. Prohibited content includes:

So, does anyone here know if Adult Swim does an april fools joke for sunday? I seriously don't think they're actually gonna show the Aqua Teen movie on TV. Unfortunately there's lots of idiots in my area who think they will.
Yea, yea, I'm a douchebag. To be fair, the only one I actively participated in was the marshmallow thing. The rest were conducted by groups of friends. Their jello thing last night didn't work out, mostly because the ones doing it left for a different party, so I don't know what happened with it.
This one time in elementary school we had a great teacher. And on April 1st he had us write up this big essay for junior high applications or whatever, part of which was written on the board. Then he put a big sheet over all but the first letter of each sentence, revealing the words "April Fools".
So we got the principal to tell him he was getting fired. He fell for it, too. Came back to class all sad.
I got my friend to beleive I was goin out with the girl he's chasin, and he flipped out, then I told him I was kidding and he flipped out, and then I told him I was kidding about kidding, and once again, he flipped out. I'm waiting to tell him I'm kidding about kidding about kidding....I'm guessing he's gonna flip out.
