Norah Jones makes me melancholy. I was just on the roof of the building I work at, sipping a diet pepsi looking at the cloudy gray skies over the mountains and she came on the mp3 player. It's gonna be a long winter, I may consider hibernation.

Guys I need some better friends

I've got a couple that I'm definitely holding on to

a few of major ones I've dropped in the past year or two because I realized they're kinda shitty people and/or horrible friends

and now I'm realizing some of my "eh" friends are actually kinda worthless too

I need to gain friendships with amazing people. Intelligent and talented and nice and interesting and shit, that kinda thing.

Is there a department store where I can purchase a few or what

    how do I do this

I am so tired of the "I love drinking and that's all I do with myself", lazy, unmotivated, illiterate, petty, immature, shallow, boring boring boring people. I need some fiercely fucking engaging, intelligent, amazing people in my life. I need to be surrounded by this. SURROUNDED. I want to drown in joy.

I think most of my problem is that my surroundings are not very populated with these types.

naaw, I'm pretty determined to get downtown. Somewhere walking distance, no transit needed. More for the novelty/sake of bein downtown than any practicality. Thanks, though. I'm not in any rush, it's just, that was a total ball breaker. Probably my biggest Do Not Want is marajuana wherever I move. Sort of moving to get away from that. SIGH.

I found that the quality of my friends changed with our overall age. Once I moved away from the better part of 21 I started having less and less "lets get blitzed" friends and more "were old, lets bitch about young kids and how they are punks these days" friends.

It helps that most of my friends are about 5-7 years older than me.

To be honest, the group of people that I have to see every day kind of suck.

They bitch way too much about the workload and can be really chatty at the wrong times. I mean, I get along with them and stuff, but they're not the kind of people that I usually spend my free time hanging around.

I had to pretty much fend for myself for any buddies outside of school, and some of the best quality friends i've come across up here have been people I just started chatting up with on the TTC. It's considerably harder to meet people without the aid of a traditional college setting, but now that i've gotten pretty decent at it its been no sweat obtaining a couple of extra buddies on the side (most of them being far more interesting than the peers I work with on a daily basis).

Having a Facebook account allows me to observe the insurmountable amount of Stupid that seems to just pour out of these people I was friends with in high school...and am "friendly acquaintances" with now.

One of them thinks he's a goddamned viking or someshit, and just wrote this:
Hopes Thor will be merciful to one of his sons this friday and not split the skies, a great event needs to take place. all non christians are welcome, unless you christ fags would like to be tied to the Life Rune staff to redeem yourself (in the center of the main fire) but if you can hold your tongue and wear no cross then u can come too! Meade and Ale will be served to Sons and Daughters of Odin only! Heiden Spass!

are you fucking serious right now, motherfucker

First time I heard about her was in high school biology. As soon as we got into genetics, the teacher popped in the documentary they did of her. She was an awesome teacher.

Yeah most of my friends are older than me, though not by that much...though even 5 years doesn't seem to help in some cases haha

I'd love to be friends with more people in the 3+ years-older category, but I just have no way of meeting people in that age category, and/or any way of hanging out with them long enough to develop a friendship.

I've met and friended a few graduate students, which is nice...but it's rare I meet any of them...and even if I do...sometimes they still act 18, and that's sad.

Yeah...most of my buddies here are at least a little bit older than me. Younger people who have less established lives seem to move on so quickly that I don't get to be friends with them for very long, making it difficult to develop great friendships. But to pursue an education here with any kind of seriousness you have to be of a certain personality type. So people tend to get along really well.

I have a male friend, we are bros. Then I have a 2 female friends I've been friends with since highschool, but I'm getting pretty frustrated with their lack of drive. (One wants to be a professional painter<--Film noir girl, the other wants to be a concept artist<--- shitty anime) Considering replacing them.

Replacing them with ND, of course. ND, will you smell my milk for me, to make sure it's not spoiled?

One of my best friends used to admin a counterstrike server and forum I played and posted on. The CS community disbanded, and about two years later I met the guy because he was in the same college class as me. He used to live thousands of miles away but ended up in my same college. I remembered his name and blew his mind when I randomly approached him in the hall and asked him if he used to run that specific CS server.

I think ND would benefit from the different educational sources that can be found in Southern California. Watts is certainly one of those but honestly I doubt this is where she would end up.

I'll be doing that in 2010 anyway :P He has already succeeded! (it's just a visit to check things out though, not for attendance)

No but for reals, if I can live in that area and take classes either at Watts or at the Concept Art Academy, or both, I will. I'd really like to, and I've wanted to live in California for a long time, even though I've never been there, haha...but yeah. Hopefully.

The only thing I'm looking forward to, when I think about myself 10 years in the future...is that I'll have so much less shit I have to deal with family-wise, and my life will be more established, and I won't be teetering on the edge of the dark abyss of the real world...hopefully I'll be in it, and will have been for awhile, and will be a little more secure in my life and where it's going. It'd be real nice. :) I've wanted to get out of here since middle school....the end is in sight! wooooo!
