i'm confused about perth's. Why is it more expensive for a month than it would be for 30 individual days?
In Perth alot of options for a month of parking get you a private parking bay that is guaranteed to be available 24/7, places that you pay a per day rate will be first come first served. People are willing to pay more to get a guaranteed spot.
In general the reason parking is so expensive in Perth is that the city is constrained by the river to the south and east, King's Park and the freeway to the west and the railway line to the north. As there isn't any room to expand outward they have to expand upward instead which is an expensive proposition.
Of course none of this is helped by the fact that government services and office space in Perth is highly centralised in the CBD rather than evenly distrubuted across the metropolitan area.

I never saw a dog on public transportation in Russia, but it wouldn't shock me. The swinging doors in the metro are really, really heavy, so I'm impressed that they don't get their little faces smashed.

I got to the point in college that I could sleep the 2.5 hours to school with only a brief, ten minute consciousness interval when I had to transfer.
I could also sleep the 3ish hours from school to work and then the 1.5 from work to home. I think I missed a stop one time in the 2+ years that I did that.
There was a guy on the bus in a wheelchair last night. He had shit his pants, and the smell was so bad that the driver had his jumper pulled up over his face to try and block it. Thankfully I was only taking a 5 minute journey, it was almost unbearable.
I was on a bus from Picton to Christchurch once (about 6 hours) and this kid vomited all over the place about 2 hours into it. Apparently he was way hung over and the road isn't friendly for that kind of thing. The driver was a total dick to him about it.
The bus had no windows.
I have never hated any stranger so much in my life.

I was sitting in the mall reading a book and waiting for my wife to finish at the hair cutting place. Some teens sat down on the bench behind me and sort of nattered at each other as teens do. One of them was sort of doing a slow drift to the left and not taking part in the conversation at all.
He puked about five times and none of his friends even batted an eye.
Then they all got up and wandered away. It was extremely surreal and disgusting.

A few months ago it was raining pretty hard, I got home from work and didn't take my shoes off for some reason. I start heading down to the basement and I fall down the stairs since the soles of my shoes had become hella slick due to the rain. I ended up banging up my arm pretty badly and got a few nasty cuts along my forearm.
A few days later I'm riding the train to work and it's pretty damned packed so I had to stand by a pole, said pole bangs against my forearm throughout the ride but it only stings a little bit so I pay it no mind. I reach my transfer station, get on the train, and sit down. I notice this girl keeps staring at me, I'm wearing a brand new dress shirt I had picked up from the tailor the day before so I'm thinking I look pretty snazzy, so of course I'm a bit flattered. I get to the Pentagon and as I'm getting my stuff checked the security guard asks me if I've noticed my forearm; I look and see this large red splotch from where my wound had opened up. Girl probably wasn't giving me :winky: eyes, she probably thought I was going to give her the HIV since all minorities in DC carry it. Or maybe she was giving me :winky: eyes and was one of those Twilight vampire gals. And because I know you all want to know this... I was able to save my new dress shirt and we lived happily ever after.

when I checked the transactions online it turned out the first scan which was around 2 pm got timestamped as 7 am
I've called customer service 3 times about it over the last 3 weeks and first was told it would just be refunded back to my orca card
then when it didn't show I was told they'd have to send a ride ticket to me instead
got the email a week ago that the ticket was being mailed to me, should take a day for it to reach me so I figure a couple of days to process and mail it out perhaps

and if they're sending tickets out when your card is mischarged, how am I supposed to transfer with the ticket?
when I lived in seattle I had to take the 358 at midnight every night from my ghetto apartment on northgate down to the 76 station across the street from the space needle to work the graveyard shift.
for those of you that are familiar with it the 358 gets pretty sketchy after about 9pm.
My only customers were crackheads, hookers, the homeless or some combination of the three. though its kind of a joke to call them customers since none of them ever actually bought anything.
I learned a lot about life in the month and a half I worked there.
