UoT works on credits: Fullyear course is 1.0, Halfyear course is 0.5. To be a full-time student you need to have 3.0 credits or more worth of courses, anything less than that is part-time. You can have a maximum 5.0 credits per year, with 6.0 credits granted for a limited time registration early in the year if you want to add a 6th credit. And you need 20.0 credits to graduate.
Because mainstream Amerka is chained to the 40-hour work week.
I kind of want to make a thread on the Swiss banning minarets, but I figure it'll just be a bunch of people agreeing that it's stupid and then turn into a religion thread.
I never make good threads.
Check the SE++ thread for reasons why not to bother.

UofA works on a standard credit hour system
3 credits for a one-semester class (even if it's 7 hours a week when you add up 3 hours of lecture, a 3 hours weekly lab, and a weekly seminar), 6 for a full year. 1.5 on slack gym classes for the jocks in Phys Ed.
30 a year would be a full schedule, 18 is minimum full-time load.

christ, 7 hours a week for one class? Man I love not being in the sciences.
I have 3.5 (4 courses) credits this term and have 9 hours of class a week. Next term I will have 4.5 credits (6 courses) and have 13 hours of class a week.

I checked that thread. It was nearly a page of Weaver saying bigoted bullshit (he had like 3 posts in a row) followed by him saying essentially "nah, just kidding brah. no homo"

I'll disagree and pretend that "cultural preservation" isn't just another word for racism.
And do the towers make noise? I could divert discussion into noise pollution policy.
Slip me a few bucks and I'll even reveal slowly over the course of my posts a crazy evangelical christian agenda. 150 pages, guaranteed.

Well that and making the class hours equal the credits is the easiest system to use.
I told a friend of mine I'd find house music she might like. She's into funk, digs good bass. Can't think of a darn thing that might pique her interests, though.

I would hope so, because statements like

Well, to be fair, usually those quotes and the dust jacket summary are done up by the publisher not the author.
My first year I majored Biochem, and it was brutual.
2 chem courses, bio, math, and english first semester.
15 hours of lecture a week, 9 hours of lab, 4 hours of seminar. Brutal.
I'm scared. This is scary Mike.
I don't want to hit you baby, but statements like
Are utter bunk. How could the universe be "meaningful?"
just look at that title

Yeah, don't take more than two lab sciences a semester.
I don't care what your major is.
Yes, this'll do the trick. Thanks!

It comprises all meaning?
The rape, the horrible horrible rape.
So "meaning" is something that is inherent to a being/object?
yeah, rape, sure
wearing that skirt
swishing those hips
whatever you say, crystal magnum
It wasn't rape, it was unfortunate sex. Just Ask Amy!
Any sex with me is unfortunate sex.
At least it's not rape?
Whether or not it is is irrelevant.
The universe is composed of everything.
Does the universe compose part of the universe?
no, the universe composes all of the universe. :P
