I suggest these. I have been happy with the results.

As for a bag, I'll leave that to someone else.

Chessex is pretty much the go-to company for dice, especially if you want matching sets. If you have a large number of dice, the standard nerd-bag is a Crown Royal (emptied of its contents).

Yeah, I had not touched the stuff when I got my first bag. I have since then.

On topic though, Chessex is the big supplier of dice and I generally used them... but after testing the gamescience dice with some friends at the local shop I was surprised to see a better variety of rolls on the game science dice compared to the Chessex dice. I have used them since then. Buying Chessex is not bad and it won't ruin your game, I just think the game science dice are a better quality and I had the money to drop on some.

Crystal Caste has some pretty awesome ones, as noted.

Q-Workshop hasn't been mentioned yet, so I'll throw that out there.

    http://q-workshop.com/

They have some pretty cool designs, if you like that kind of thing.

Edit: Oh, and on the dice bag thing: chainmail bags are pretty badass. They are, obviously, quite sturdy and people are always impressed by them. Because I make chainmail as a hobby, I made one for myself a while back and pretty much every time somebody sees one at a game I end up selling them one. I know you can buy them online, so take a look around.

Remember that the dice gods are fickle and they can and will curse or bless the dice in your posession.

Always have a second or 3 set of dice for when those situations happen. When you end up tightrope walking over a pit of acid and your survival is dependant on a dex roll, but all you have is the legendary D20 "Shitroll" which was forged in the mines of SUCK, you will be happy when you can grab another. Its not luck its the gods.

    Do not buy polished dice!

    Go with the GameScience Dice.

Dice polishing in tumblers and sanders is what causes "lucky" and "shit" dice. Unpolished dice don't suffer from this.

They are going to be sharp. They don't travel far while rolling so its hard to roll them off the table.

They have one little blemish on a face where the mold injection took place but this blemish does nothing to unbalance the weight or surface area distribution.

Most hobby shops carry stuff from Chessex, I know at least the three around me do. You can buy a set of "premium" dice from wizards of the coast, but usually it's not worth it, they tend to tack on 10-15 extra bucks for no reason at all.

I have never been able to notice any difference between the polished and unpolished dice in actual play.

You're making it a bigger thing than it really is.

I've always felt my dice were sufficiently random. Although I did have one of those obelisk shaped d20s that rolled nothing but 2s and 17s.

Also, I would punish my dice (for show of course) by freezing them in ice cubes or microwaving them.

Another suggestion... they're awesome, but stay the fuck away from metal dice. They look cool, and all your friends will be like "whoa, awesome!" But the first time they scratch/chip the table, your host will kill you.

Again, I know online is convenient, but a local hobby shop will more than likely have a full set of dice for cheap.

I notice chessex.com requires you to email an order form with all the info. I really dislike the idea of emailing my credit card information.

That's good, because what the hell are they thinking? That's just ridiculous and shame on them for soliciting orders in such a way, obviously some people are making orders that way if they're doing it and not realizing how dumb it is.

I have had a few dice bags, including the oblig. Crown one, and right now I have a non-descript blue bag that is similar to those but rather large, it was what a coffee go-cup came in and I use the bag more than the cup.

Good move on getting more than a basic set, your dice bag should pull double-duty and serve as a weapon in a pinch.

Yeah when it comes down to it color is actually one of the biggest deciding factors of dice buying. Good choice on buying a bunch of d6's too, having to roll 1d6 7 or 8 times gets annoying after a bit.

Yeah, a cube of smaller d6s is great when you play a lot of different games as well, such as Shadowrun or WEG Star Wars or Warhammer etc. etc. :D And they serve well in D&D where we often use them for monster markers.

My first set of dice was a foggy plastic set that was polished down so much that the d20 was like a golfball.

That thing would roll for ages.

I was playing an Elf Wizard focusing on Evocation spells. I bought a big pack of D6s just for my fire damage.

I also try to roll certain damages with color co-ordinated dice to help out with resistances.

Fire - Red, Ice - Blue, Holy - White, etc.

I have a ton of dice so it works pretty well.

To be fair, they mention on their order page that if you're not comfortable with email you can call and place your order over the phone.
