You can ignore EVs and be fine. You can even play other people. Just don't play anybody with an official pokemon hat, anything that looks like a pokeball on or near them, or anybody who has 6 OU pokes in their team because fuck those guys.
But I would know that my pokemans would be inferior, weak! Hollow shells of what they could be. And it would haunt me.
Edit: Wow has killed grinding for me, I try to avoid any game with any leveling at all costs these days. Even things like Modern Warfare 2.
Yeah, I know how you feel.
Playing Dragon Age I either had to forsake the party I wanted so that I could successfully navigate harder difficulties, or tone the difficulty down so that I could survive with a less than optimal party, but more enjoyable experience (in shame).

Hard was easy enough. Challenging at times, but still easy. What I didn't like about the difficulty scaling was that it messed with enemy resistances. I like increased difficulty when it's just that enemies are stronger, do more damage, or last longer. Because it makes me reevaluate how I approach a battle.
Resistance tampering is just increasing difficulty by not making anything I do fucking work. It's just the "fuck you" way of making things harder.

there is a mod to respec that allows you to make some of those poorly ai specced characters playable.
It also lets you play around more with what skills you want to try.

Yeah, CC makes Dragon Age a little easier, but I kind of just try to tread through the fights so that I can get on with the rest of the game. Is that weird? I played Mass Effect like that, too. I was more involved in the narrative playing out than killing 150 hurlocks one at a time.

*le sigh*
Or just suck it up and grind. Hop to!

you are way better at vidjagames than me
rather good
There are dozens of better explanations for my doing fine. MC mage, for instance.
Aw, I'm looking forward to seeing the movie in IMAX. It's going to be pretty.
I can't be bothered to care about the contrived Hero's Journey.
She put a vampire curse on you. The only way to get rid of it is admitting that you want to sodomise Edward Cullen.

Yeah no.
That is not a difference.
God that music brings a lot of memories back
oooooooouh
CC? Sleep and paralysis, fireball. Cone of Cold.
Most important spells. Almost nothing resists Cone of Cold. Not even Revenants.
what, no force field? Crushing prison? Nothing resists those either.
I had no idea what it meant at first either.
Can he pretend he's Cedric Diggory?
I saw his robes!
