This is the thread for your relatively obscure musical obsessions. The Shit you think no one listens to, but you can't get enough of. even though lots of people have heard of it, because the artists wouldn't be publishing wide enough for you to hear otherwise. THIS AINT THE THREAD FOR YOUR BEST FRIEND'S GARAGE BAND

Yea, man, no one knows about Ratatat.

Yea, but was I saying what you think I was saying or was I saying something that you thought I was saying but wasn't what you thought I was saying but something I was saying that was different than what you were saying?

Yndi Halda is pretty rad. They have a lot of Explosions in the Sky and MONO in their sound, but they're consistently more interesting than either of them.

This song makes me want to charge into battle with a big fucking sword or climb a mountain or fly on a cloud or something.
I HAVE THIS
:^:
My current obsession is with dreampop. And by association, shoegaze. Lots of Asobi Seksu, MBV, M83, Mew, Raveonettes, Sunny Day in Glasgow, Silversun Pickups, etc.
Fuck yeah Mother Mother! My girlfriend's brother showed them to me a while back, and I've been trying to spread the love ever since. I'm still not sure what makes me like them so much; they're not at all like most music I'm into. They're just so fun!
These guys are amazing live. You've seen them live, right? Because they're incredible. I always thought they were a little cheesy, didn't really get too into them until I saw them pull out The Mob Goes Wild live. Dude lives and breathes that stuff.

I'm pretty sure this thread isn't some kind of contest. Just a place to share some bands that don't get much exposure.
Also, Faricazy, I already know World's End Girlfriend, but I just listened to that tune by Kashiwa Daisuke and it was swell! I'll have to hear the whole thing sometime.

I have not, but me and my uncle really want to, he's who got me into them with 'Careful With That Mic...'
I've seen 'em twice. The first time they did Careful With That Mic, but that was like two or three years ago. This last summer they did not do it. Just get up close and scream it at him between songs though, he seems like the sort of guy who'd go for it.
PS I am sorry that my joke in my previous post was not well received. Please do appreciate how wicked awesome Big Black was, though. For your own sake.

Neither the whole of truth nor the whole of good is revealed to any single observer, although each observer gains a partial superiority of insight from the peculiar position in which he stands. It is enough to ask of each of us that he should be faithful to his own opportunities and make the most of his own blessings, without presuming to regulate the rest of the vast field.

i was at the concert where they announced their new name for the first time!
(it used to just be 'mother' but they got sued or something so it's 'mother mother' now)

Then put that off for a while and listen to Kashiwa Daisuke's Program Music I for like a month straight:

THIS IS JUST A TASTE
STELLA IS 35 MINUTES LONG
plus, it was the music they played when they were promoting Community
but it is still nice
I will posit this, however:
I have the best girlfriend by virtue of the fact that she gifted me for Christmas Big Black's Songs About Fucking and Headache.
Try and beat that. I dare you.

I remember your thing about matt and kim you compared them to a band or kind of music from the 80's that everyone will feel silly for liking
Months later I still don't care very much.
I've been getting into this really obscure female singer, she does a lot of great melodic stuff
it's too bad more people haven't heard of her, I think she's got real potential

Also they aren't obscure but this is just the music I like and you don't thread

i like your taste in music it is similar to mine
you should post more good music like those bands you posted, there
A name or explanation or something would be nice.
Edit: Ah, didn't mean to come off as rude there. And thanks for the names! It's cool stuff.
Actually, come to think of it, one of my old English teachers showed me Gregor Samsa. He was a cool dude.
