After the Avatar’s triumph at The Black Gate, the citizens of Britannia began to relax. The string of ritualistic killings committed by Hook and Forskis had been ended, Britannia was at peace, the Avatar wasn’t arbitrarily stealing everything not nailed down, and life had generally returned to normal. Unfortunately, it dawned on them that the Avatar was still there, having moved into Lord British’s castle. Normally after saving the kingdom, the Avatar returned home to Earth. The citizens’ fears turned out to be prophetic.
One morning a few months after the Battle of The Black Gate, the killings began again. The mages Nicodemus and Erethian were found murdered in the familiar ritualistic way.
At precisely noon that day, an image appeared over the eight main towns of Britannia.
“Britannians! I am The Guardian, and I have come to conquer this realm. I have cast a spell upon this land using the energies released by the deaths of the two mages murdered at my command. Until the spell fades, you shall all share a physical resemblance to your so-called Avatar of Virtue!
I propose to the denizens of this realm a contest. Several members of my Fellowship remain among you. Each of you will adopt a name to be known by for the duration. Each night, you will vote for one person to be executed. My followers will continue to murder people of my choosing to power the spell. When people die, the spell will no longer affect them and you will see their true identities. If you manage to kill the remainder of the Fellowship before they control the vote, I will allow you to maintain your pitiful realm.”
The citizens of Britannia remained believers in their virtues though, and proposed an additional rule to the contest. Each night, they would suggest one of the 8 towns in addition to a kill. The true Avatar would pray there, lending strength to the people. The Guardian quickly agreed to these terms, as he dismissed the concept of the Virtues altogether. Will this be his downfall?
The Rules
All standard rules apply.
This means:
- No forwarding or quoting role PMs
- Send me a link to proboards made during the game
-
sign up in colors, preferably lime
-
vote in bold red to kill one person each night.
Retractions in lime are appreciated, but not required
- any needed
clarifications should be requested in orange
- NO editing of posts with votes. If I see the edit or the last edited message appears, your vote doesn’t count. I will warn you once.
- Inactives will be prosecuted with extreme prejudice. Specifically, with a powder keg to the face. Vote every day, post as much as you can. Requirements are voting in the two votes each day. More is very much appreciated and will make the game more fun for everyone! You get one warning, though allowances for special circumstances will be allowed.
- One ghost post is allowed. There may or may not be a resurrection mechanic, so don’t share information with anyone after you die!
- No dickishness. B:L style silliness is appreciated though.
- Vote closes at midnight EST. Posts timestamped 12:00 will not count.
- Narration will be as fast as I can write it. Not sure how long it will take, hoping to have it up within an hour of close, preferably much, much faster! This is my first time hosting so predictions are to be taken as guidelines only.
Game specific rules:
- In addition to the normal
red vote of death there will be a
yellow location vote each night. In this vote, you will vote for one of the eight towns of Britannia. The towns are:
Britain
Minoc
Trinsic
Yew
Moonglow
New Magincia
Jhelom
Skara Brae
The next night, the Avatar (if alive) will travel there to pray. This has two effects:
1) The citizens of that town will get double the influence in the next vote.
2) Special mystery effects to some powers!
If the Avatar dies, this mechanic will cease. So keep him alive!
- If you want to write your posts in faux old English like the games do (thou, thoust, thee, etc), that’s awesome. I however, will not be for any narration, as I don’t think I could pull it off well.
- My avatar is male. If you’re mad about this, deal.
Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
Posts
I forgot to note this. The Avatar will be praying in Britain on the first night.
Ties are for sissies, everyone tied will die.
Towns can be visited more than once.
What happens if the location vote is tied?
Answer: If the Avatar voted for one of the tied cities, you go where he wants. If not, I RNG between the tied cities.
This game takes place between The Black Gate and Serpent Isle
The order of events in the narration should be considered narrative license and not a reflection of game mechanics.
Also, to be clear: last night's prayers at the Shrine of Compassion affected last night's actions. Something super compassionate happened. Tonight's prayers at Honesty will affect tonight's results.
Both votes are doubled when the Avatar is in your town.

Gasp.
I'm crushed, Raiden. I'm in both communities! Life is more fun with me!
Also, there are colors over there.
And did I mention me?
Democrats Abroad! || Vote From Abroad
We've got colors.
I'm as equally the same person in CF as I am here!
Battlemans: DiscoCabbage | Elite: Dangerous: Aleksandr Khabaj
But how do I know that?
You could be a doppelganger.
Zandy's talking in complete sentences here too.
This is a strange new year....

Now why would you believe that? Heh. I could be multiple people and you would likely never notice! I act like me! I am me! I think, therefore I am! HAhhah. Hah. Hahe. Heh.
I'll make you Lord British now.
Joy!
Democrats Abroad! || Vote From Abroad
Or at least it's designed that way. I hope it works!
Why do you hate me so?
Also, I should find an avatar with gender....

!Time to stab people in the dark
Well, yes, because I got them from the Let's Play from Something Awful, wherein the Avatar was a woman named Steve for reasons which are mystifying. Coincidentally, they're all at the www.letsplayarchive.com and are all fantastic.
4-7 (both parts) and Martian Dreams.
Also, sign up, B:L; or do you not want to play without having me to vote for?
You should sign up
And ummm
No, not those avatars.
They clash with my sig.

Recently, the word 'avatar' has been bashed into oblivion for me in so many ways. I can't tell anymore if someone means the little picture here, the airbender guy, or the blue aliens.
And Ahava I will at some point. It's just that lately I've been very busy. Also I had to take a break because the Dissidia Phalla broke me mentally.
But I will return, oh yes.
