Yeah, dude. You're, like, the reason I joined this forum, aside from my prior liking of Penny Arcade.

Beav: I don't like this. I mean, it's good of course, but there's little of the confidence that your work usually has.

    I've gotta disagree with that.

I think it's awesome. Not to mention confident.

i can see where jake is coming from
nothing i usually do is this static, i usually work with simple forms, and use flowing confident lines and forms.
I add a lot of myself to most stuff I do, and this was really taking the design of my little pony, and scientific illustration, neither of which are really "me" on their own.
definitely broke a little out of my comfort zone the past few days with stuff like the pony and the buzzard.
I always experience a few bumps when i start working in a different way, I'm sure they'll iron out eventually.

Tam, you might want to think a bit more on how their feet are hitting the ground, the old lady's grounded foot should have most of the weight at her toes by that point in her stride, and the heel of her other foot should have more downward motion. Maybe curve the lines a bit more like this:
    scan0015-1.jpg
let the curvature of her body suggest movement in an otherwise static image.
Same with the mule's legs, only I didn't want to take too long illustrating an example....

Edit: and the black line, which I added in Photobucket's editor last minute, represents the motion of her stride, which should also be represented in the curing of her shape.

it still looks good tam, particularly the woman
the donkey is very stiff, loosen up those limbs a little, and try to add more confident lines... the curves are all very stiff and forced

    speaking of confidence!
Nothing makes you feel good like digging through your old shit.
I did this meme over at DA. it was fun.

Wow, you've come a long way. This helps me see that I can accomplish things with my work if I keep practicing!

Also Tam, it does look a lot better than you seem to think it does. I really like it, that was just a criticism based on what I've been reading in Force.

    It's a pony, not a horse.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horse#Ponies
The distinction between a horse and pony is not simply a difference in height, but takes account of other aspects of phenotype or appearance, such as conformation and temperament. Ponies often exhibit thicker manes, tails, and overall coat. They also have proportionally shorter legs, wider barrels, heavier bone, shorter and thicker necks, and short heads with broad foreheads.

    oh that tube
    always good for a laugh

I was asked for an explanation on my painting process by a forumer so I made a li'l (it's huge actually so i'll link it, not post it) tutorial for all to see.
I dumbed it down quite a bit, I know said forumer understands pretty much all of this junk, but I'm gonna post it on my deviantart account as well.

Here's the little guy I made for the tutorial:
