Yeah, I think I'm only going to be able to hit one PAX a year, so I'm gonna keep it as Prime.

After being pining to head PAX every year since it's inception and being just over the border (I could see America from my front porch) made it worse. Timing and/or money just never worked out. This year will be different. This year I'm making a goal to attend. I'll be leaving from either Victoria or Vancouver.

    I'm stoked like a Cunard.

Not only will Brian and I be at Prime this year, but that dork is going to agree to hang with the TSers whether they scare him or not! :p

There are groups who head down from both those locations. You should join up. This allows you to possibly save money or at the very least be social.

I just estimated both the high and low potential tax returns for Brian and I, and it's official--even with the low return, we'll be able to book Prime at any time after getting our returns, and should have it paid off before we even leave for Seattle!

Assuming I'm still employed I will never miss a PAX again. I've had to settle to watch the PAX DVD's, which is basically like nerd porn without the tissue.

My question regarding PAX Prime... have they announced/bought the room block yet? (meaning are tickets available yet)

Um, no fear. We are basically awesome. Unless Brian is a pansy. And even then, we're still awesome. He's the one with the problem.

Can't believe I need to "start" my PAX Prime planning already. Mostly money though. Everything else will come together as per usual.

Of course he's a pansy. :p To be fair, I was really proud of him in 08 for going to PAX at all, with how he is about crowds. (PS: Disney World gave him anxiety problems too, and that's DISNEY WORLD.)

Don't know if I am going. Never been to PAX before and East is my first one and its closer to me since I am in TN.

When West rolls around and if I can get a plane ticket for $350 or less and get some hotel sharing going on then it might be feasible. But I can't drive or take a train. And definitely not payign $500+ for a plane ticket.

Plus I'll be going solo if I do go to the West one whereas at PAX East I'll be going with at least 5 friends and meeting about 3-4 friends that live far away from me but going to East.

I hope this is an appropriate place to post this, but I've been looking over cheap hotels for Prime in 9 months (so long D: ) And I do believe I've found a respectable, cheap hotel. People looking for a cheap place to stay, check out the "Guesthouse Inn & Suites Renton". It's like.. 10 miles from the Convention Center, and it's costing me and 2 friends, for a room with 2 queen beds, $55 a night and it has free parking.. A bit of a drive to the Center, yes, and probably not as nice as some of those way expensive downtown hotels, but that just means more money to waste of PAX stuff =D I must improve my plushie collection, koopa troopa, The Maw, Ponyo, and Mog need new friends!

@ZeroHourHero I've never stayed myself, but between driving & parking, I'd suggest talking to the forumers that use the Green Tortoise. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure it's downhill from the convention center, which can suck in the AM but is always helpful right before bed. :p (We made the mistake of takimg the ferry to Bainbridge our first night when we went in 08, and I thought I was going to die walking back to the Sheraton afterward. Savannah is NOT a hilly city, so I was very unprepared. :p)

The American Hostel in the I-District is also a great place. I think it's about $25/night, really clean and super nice staff. Arnonaut stayed there for most of his time in Seattle at Prime 09 and enjoyed it.

It's a lot more crowded than it was in 2007. Last year they used the entire center for the first time as well.

Alright so I decided I'm definitely going. Just put in my time off request to get there the like August 31st and leave Sep 7th! Gotta have time for MMT :)

Although my boss said she is only letting 1 or 2 people off on the 6th and I am the 2nd person so I think I'm safe. Fingers crossed.

Edit: Wow, she just approved my PAX East and West times. Thought it was gonna take her a week cause I gave her my PAX East times last week and already bought my plane ticket.

    So...I'll see everyone at Prime!

Protip for the newbies to PAX:
I cannot stress the importance of good walking shoes enough.
Last year, my feet were on the verge of bleeding, because I didn't have very good walking shoes.
Also, a simple jar of peanut butter and jelly with a loaf of bread goes a looong way.

you can also get super cute flats and put good insoles in them. i personally find good wedges to be comfortable, but all may not. 8-)

For PAX 08 I had two pairs of shoes: 1 pair of All Star knock-offs, and my 3 inch heel knee-boots. I wore the boots for most of my trip, even with the hills in Seattle, because I hurt too much after the sneakers. I wore the same sneakers for a recent trip to Disney (it was too hot for the boots) and my feet felt like they were falling off. I'll definitely be going with brand All Stars if I go back to that style again; the fakes didn't have any support at all. :( I liked that they were only $8 though.. :p

You might want to invest in insoles for them too. The real chucks aren't known for their stellar support. Some of us just happen to have feet that fit better into chucks than into other shoes.
