Steam should display it when you launch the game after it unlocks on the 2nd if I'm not mistaken.

So I'll have to download it in Steam, then?

no, right click on it in your games tab, should be an option in the menu to view the key.

Right now it only has Star Trek Online - Beta, so, maybe next week that will change.

    yea that's how I'm accessing the game/launcher.

Interrogative: Every time I try launching the game, it always pops up the UAC and steam goes through this directx install (1 of 1) that never really does anything. It'll launch the directx install, then go right into the launcher. This is the only game that prompts the UAC whenever it's launcher, anyone know how I can fix that?

Also, remember folks, to start the fleet, we'll need 5 people in the same instances and area. I'm not sure how much it costs but if I remember correctly we had it started around Lt. 1-3 so it shouldn't be much.

Actually, Picard did show a little rage in the TV show.
He took it out on his brother. They got into a fistfight. Picard cried.

Apparently that didn't solve all of his "issues", Picard still wanted revenge.

TNG Season 3 Episode 2 Family:
Family is a very good episode and I think it handles Picard's issues with it very well, I rewatched it earlier today and I was crying all the way through, especially since I had just watched Best of both worlds and Beast of both worlds.

If you punch your Steam "Star Trek Online - Beta" key into your Cryptic account, it should show up on Cryptic as your Pre-Order code.

Having not played the beta and knowing very little about the game, I have several questions...

    1. Are there Corps/Guilds?
    2. Is there Player Vs Player combat?
    3. Will there be a "House of Merch" Klingon group?

If all three are yes, sign me up, I want chop feddies with a Bat'leth and watch their ships burn.

    1: Fleets yes.
2: Yes KvK and FvK (Klingon vs Klingon and Federation vs Klingon)
3: A house of who? But no the only named houses I have seen are the standard Martok and Duras in KvK PvP matches.

Merch. You know, the Fleshreaper, what Penny Arcade's EVE corp is named after? They sell a hat in his likeness in the PA store?

Basically, is there going to be a PA forum group who makes it their business to go wreck feddies for the sake of wrecking feddies?

Ohh I thought you were talking some ST Klingon house, like the House of Quark or something, didn't make the PA connection.

House of Merch sounds like an awesome name for a Klingon fleet though and I would totally join it.

I'm scared... through steam preorders we still only have access to the beta launcher...

only the beta client is available on StarTrekOnline.com, that eases my mind somewhat, but... will my leveling stick? will I be playing a beta build? will my beta character be back? (kinda need to fix her face... lol)

I'm in obviously if there's interest.

Are there multiple server-realms for STO or just one?

    Just one for everyone.

EDIT: Scabies, if CO is any indication the beta client and the retail client are the exact same, it will just patch it to whatever build is required to log on.

So just so I have this right in my mind.

    Engineer: Tank
    Tactical: DPS
    Science: Healer/CC/ "Etc"

    And:

    Cruiser: Tank
    Escort: DPS
    Science: "Etc"

And trying to mix ships up (Engie in a Escort) is a horrible, horrible idea and I should be ashamed I even suggested it?

you'll loose out on level 3 abilites for tactical bridge officers as you can't train them if your an engie.

like wise you won't be able to use your Engie Bo's their best as escorts don't have alot of engie slots.

so if i want to be a science officer, i should plan on flying a science ship? i was thinking of science officer in a cruiser...
to get the most out of your science bo's it seems like, but nothings to stop anyone from doing whatever they feel like :)

There was a big discussion on this over on the official forums and the results where not clear...

One key result (I think) was that your captain was one of the smallest factors impacting your ships usage..

Your energy setting and your BO skills had a far larger impact on how you used your ship than the captain skills...

One key concern was training the level three skills to you BOs, because a Tactical Captain can only train a Tactical Officer and that could not be used on a Cruiser because they do not have a high enough level of tactical console. But you can get plenty of uncommon BO's with level 3 skills, you just need to find and keep an Engineer one. Plus, hopefully, Cryptic will change things so you can trade comissioned BOs and not just candidates (then you friendly Engineer Captain could train a BO for you)...

I think what was being proposed was that a Cruiser is pretty much a tank no matter what type of captain is onboard (just slightly different types of tank)...

On the ground however your captain "type" has a far greater impact...

Well, from that character planner, the only difference is in the ground skills. All the ship skills are the same between the 3. So unless the 3 types have different innate passive bonuses that apply only to the same type of ship it won't make a difference which one you choose. The only thing you lose out on is the training the level 3 skills. And even if you can't trade for them now, you can find them if you get lucky.

If a captain unlocks a L3 skill and trains a BO with it, you can replace the BO's ensign level skill with the L3 one, right?
