Yost really just needs to write more Killer of Demons. And maybe Red Robin. I heard that's been good lately, but the first issue was abysmal, so I haven't kept up with it.

League of Losers is probably my favorite thing Kirkman's written. Especially since it gave a creative way for Squirrel Girl and Speedball to continue their relationship that began in I <3 Marvel: Masked Intentions, following all that Penance nonsense. the LoL TPB also has the Invincible/Spider-Man team-up, which is a really fun, single issue story.

So, I was looking on t'internet for some info about Thor: Son of Asgard, as I might buy it in trade (Incidentally if anybody can offer an opinion that would be nice!) And I found this. Not sure where it's from, but it seemed pretty cool.

Love Thor's little grin at the end there. What a lad!

Yeah that's Clayton Crain. He had a good art style on Ennis' Ghost Rider mini, but all his X-Force stuff has been really really dark and murky.

And more mini marvel Hawkeye/Iron Man shenanigans:

All of this talk about nextwave over in that thread where the guy is freaking out turned me nostalgic:

Maybe I'm a little sadistic, but that fourth panel is one of my favorites in comic book history. It's not just that he's dropping the guardian dude... it's the weird sorta ragdoll thing that's going on too.

While it doesn't have all of the strips, the Mini Marvel Ultimate Collection TPB is the best out there for collecting the most.

But there are a few other smaller trades and one-shot comics with the bullpen bits strips and there were some stories in the back of the great Marvel Adventures comics, like this one that was left out of the collection:

    mmbb9.jpg

The sales for an Absolute Mini Marvels would be astronomical, it would keep Marvel profitable for a thousand years (so in a sense the Red Skull does win).

And also, the Ultimate collection did not collect this, the best Hulk story in years:

You know why mini-marvels works so well? It's superheroes just chillin' out with each other most of the time. My favourite issues of the X-Men or Avengers or whatever are always the ones where they're watching TV or talking about everyday stuff because it really makes them characters rather than brightly costumed fighting machines. Mini-Marvels just has the interaction down perfectly.

Yeah, I missed out on the mini-marvel stuff and only heard about it when Chris started doing G-man.

The ultimate collection is a god-send and Marvel seriously lost something awesome.

Tiny Titans is pretty great, but it clearly has a different audience in mind. Mini-Marvels can be a little mean-spirited or biting with their jokes, poking fun at individual comics, storylines, or characters. Tiny Titans usually just sticks to making funny puns, and putting characters in places where they don't belong; i.e. Darkseid the lunch lady, who gives everyone their final exam, resulting in a Finals Crisis. Or Blue Beetle having the Beatles show up as his parents on parent/teacher conference day.

Notice how they never let Chris G. make fun of OMD before they shut down the entire mini marvels operation.

    I'm just sayin'.

The WWH story is probably the one that really took the most piss out of a Marvel event.

Totally bringing this back with a really somber moment from Ultimate X-Men.

The story so far: Wolverine has tracked down a young mutant who's power is, basically, that everyone around him dies a horrible death and melts.

That scene is really well executed. I originally called it great in this post but I think that the wrong word as it's not great, in a similar way to how Saving Private Ryan is an excellent film but it's not great, it's harsh and realistic and really shows you what happens and in this case what might happen in this circumstance.

    Indeed.

Well, wait. The number of murders for D.C. when it was at the peak of being "the murder capital" was 484 in 1991 (of course, this is for a city of 600,000 vs. a max for L.A. of over 500 for 4 million people). Frank has almost certainly killed that many in an arc.

But did you mean through murder or all unnatural deaths (accidents, suicide, etc.)? Not that it may not be true then.
