So the shoping channel thing is an actual problem? I've never had any trouble with it, but it seems like a lot of people do. Is it just a weirdness with your wifi connections or do you think there some actual problem with the channel? Could it be you just try to get in when the shopping channel is getting pounded, like on Mondays at noon or when stuff is released like now?

Took about 5 minutes for mine to download. Of course, this was within 20 minutes of the blue glow showing up, so part of that is probably just the fact that I beat the rush...

Well. After six tries I finally got into the shop channel.

I have gotten an error code part way through the download twice now.

    I am hella irritated.

Woah... I got another error code...

So now that I'm trying the download for the 4th time, instead of Mario running across the screen, I've got Mario and Luigi swimming across. Tapping A seems to make them swim higher, but maybe I'm imagining it. Never seen that before...

Just got the new browser (I'm using it right now)

My only complaint is that I can't just point at the bottom of the screen and press B to scroll down anymore

Aside from that, it is aces

Also I've never had a problem connecting to Wii Shop ever! Maybe I'm just lucky

I'm impressed! The startup is faster, finally being stretched to the edges of my screen is nice, the bottom bar autohiding was desperately needed, and the "hotkeys" of B+direction to do stuff are sweet.

Now, I am going to say something important. Listen up. ;-)

Take your new Wii browser to a site called Videohybrid. With the auto-hiding bar and the flexible zoom, you can now get their videos (which I have heard may include movies, and TV shows) to basically be fullscreen. All 3,247 of them.

Boredom and productivity may both finally be dead forever.

(Protip: Probably also still works pretty well with Orb for streaming stuff from your own PC. The trial version did, and now it can be fullscreen.)

If it took an hour to download an update that took me less than 2 minutes, then I'd say that your WiFi is far from working flawlessly.

Make sure you're on either channel 1 or 11 and that your Wii isn't placed somewhere where there's high EM interference. If that doesn't help, consider either getting a router with a good compatibility rating or the wired attachment for the Wii.

I'm not some "noob" here. My wireless works flawlessly. The internet channel zips about at an unharnessed pace, that alone is proof enough that my wireless is working A-OK. My router is on Channel 11, and it is not 3 feet away from my Wii. Everything is configured properly. There are no other wireless devices operating within 3 channels of Channel 11 in the vicinity.

There is nothing magical about the Shop Channel that would make it operate any differently with my wireless connection that would somehow make the wireless connection at fault. It is bliss, it is perfection. The Shop Channel is broken, and shitty. Nintendo seriously needs to fix it.

Does your Wii have a static ip? That might help--I had problems getting my Wii's online set up, but doing that made it work flawlessly.

I seriously recommend a static ip for your Wii if you don't have one set up already. An ip conflict seems like a plausible explanation for your slow download.

Man, for those of you who haven't tried out the automatic zoom mode, do it. It's awesome.

It's essentially like the trial version's crappy zoom mode, only not crappy, and you can still manual zoom by holding the button instead of pressing it. However, when you do this, it zooms in and out in smaller steps than manual, so it's easier to get stuff to fill the screen just right.

god this version is so much better than the beta.

love the d-pad scrolling, and the manual zooming.

    seems faster in general also.

still need to try youtube though.

I really wish this thing could play other video formats. About half of my internet leisure time is spent watching Quicktime or Windows media. Heh.

The zoom is improved, but it's still not ideal. I really wish the text would reformat like in the news channel, though that is likely impossible.

I do miss the B button scoll.

Also, I nor any of my 5 Wii owning friends have ever had a shop channel problem. Maybe Canadian wifi has less traffic or something.

Try pressing 2 if you're reading lots of text. The news channel can better layout text because it doesn't have to worry about other content in the page.

He's either talking about this or this.

The first one connects to your computer (Windows-only for some stupid reason) and lets you use a DS or Wii wirelessly, piggybacking on the host computer's Internet connection. The second connects to the back of your Wii, letting you use a regular wired router instead of wireless. Pick whichever is better for you, I guess. The first one lets you use a DS, too; the second one doesn't require your computer stay on at all times.
