Kind of like a consistent, sticky(ish) jelly. It's really good.

    Sounds like them to me

I'm flying in from the UK too, so feel free to ask me to split the load.
I've been hearing about this mountain dew throwback. will that stuff be around still when we're over? i like dew, but i'd love to taste it with sugar instead of that damn syrup.

I cannot believe any of you have not asked for a Wispa. Best part about the UK...that and Snake Bite Blacks.

it literally took me reading this 3 times to realise snakebite blacks isn't a sweet.
which is terrible, since i drink them all the time too.
although it's technically snakebite AND black, since it's snakebite (half lager, half cider for you people not in the know) and blackcurrant cordial.
    often known as a diesel.

WHAT...They do not sell all of the chocolate mentioned in the first post, in the United States?...What do you guys have for chocolate?

We have whats known as corn syrup candy or as some people put it waxy candy. The thing about America is we have a sweet tooth so our candy tends to get modified to taylor to it or so that's what the companies claim. Cadbury for example ships chocolate to us then we add corn syrup to make it sweeter and as result the chocolate content is reduced. Cadbury UK response to this is Americans prefer it this way.

I wouldn't call the candy / chocolate in the US sweet, I have had some of it before and it tasted like sugarless candy. I looked for familiar brands that we have in Canada, however, couldn't find any so I decided to buy random stuff I hadn't heard off, I will not do that again. I assumed at the time the few stores I went to didn't carry it, however, apparently after reading this thread the US doesn't have much candy / chocolate that Canada / UK has. Also, please tell me you at least have a brand of candy called "Maynards" in the US, otherwise I will have to bring some down when I go to PAX.

Well, most candy (and practically everything else) in the US has High Fructose Corn Syrup instead of sugar.

It's a goddamn crime if you ask me. The real stuff is so much better. I'd ask for something, but there's a English Tea shop near my house that sells imported goods :D

On a related note, Kraft buying out Cadbury breaks my heart.

I'd love to buy some of this alien candy. Love dark chocolate, but really anything weird would be good.

Other than a little money I feel bad that I don't have anything suitably exotic to offer in return.

to my knowledge all candy not originating from the us will not be found in the us including maynards. Expcept for in the following situations:
purchase and pay to have it imported in
Find a import store who imports it and sells it (i know of none in my neck of the woods)

i had an irish version of a boost bar courtesy of my lovely irish girlfriend. they're soooooo much better than the british one's. it's a shame.

oh, and as for that list: fox's glacier mints, fox's glacier fruit (though i haven't seen them in a while) and there's those aniseed or liquorice ones now too. glacier dark or something.
are creme eggs made with corn syrup over there? because it'd take me 5 minutes from the door of my house to buy maybe 20 of those things.

Cream eggs are made with high fructose corn syrup like everything else. There about half the size they use to be and only fill the egg 3/4 full. They have Carmel and chocolate filled now as well. They are easter specific candy . Though by end of march they will be available in stores.

Lol mountain dew the king of tooth decay (just my opinion) Though right now you can get it made with real sugar. Same goes for fr pepper and pepsi. least on the west coast unless the limited time ends by march time will tell. For the record real sugar tastes better.

Visit Sugar Heaven on Newbury St. in addition to the Shaw's by the Prudential Center (there you can get candy cheaper than at 7-11 or a CVS). Sugar Heaven has old school and bulk candy.

My nephew is a Tootsie Roll fiend so I can appreciate that. I'll see if I can get one of those giant size bags to bring to the dinner for you.

Just what they sound like! Candies that have sour properties to make them tangy and delicious! And they run the gauntlet. Sour Patch Kids, Warheads, Sour Punch Licorice; all of them are delightfully tasty. Then again, I've always been partial to sour candy.
