Just for fun, and the sake of experimentation (kinda) I'm thinking of giving my old Persian miniature-type style another whirl. Maybe one or two of you remember when I posted these fucking ages ago?

    Jewish_Merchants_by_Buckwolfe.jpg

It's been forever since I've seriously tried doing anything in that style, and I reckon I'm about due. I'm mostly just curious. Doing them in traditional media the way I used to was kinda fun, but it was also time consuming, meticulous, and expensive. I used to sketch everything in lightly, block in basic shapes with either PrismaColor or Copic marker, and then go over it all in PC colored pencil. I think I'd like to try doing it all digitally this time around. At the very least it would cut down on the cost of burning through pencil after pencil. Plus those things are damn near impossible to sharpen without breaking.

So just out of curiosity y'all think its worth the time and effort? Yay? Nay? I've never been real clear on what people think of the style. I gave it up because I thought it was a dead end, without any real commercial appeal, but now I'm not so sure.

So, worth an honest to goodness shot?

EDIT - Oh, and slightly late happy birthday wishes to ND.

    Slightly random..?
I'm not sure which is more difficult...

Forcing myself to draw more often, and for periods longer than 15-20 minutes (that's about how long it takes for me to get completely discouraged and give up), or forcing myself to eat healthy food. I think it might actually be the latter.

Its certainly not the taste that bothers me, mostly because I can't taste, its the texture. It's like 95% of food that's "healthy" is made of leaves, and more often than not wet leaves. Or sludgy mush, like yogurt or oatmeal. Why does health food have to be so fucking soggy??? I don't like leafy, soggy food dammit!

    I might as well be.

I've known for a long time that pretty much everything I consume is typically considered "bad" for the body. Especially in the quantities I eat. According to whom, I don't know for sure, but whoever these people are they all agree that I'm eating incorrectly.

So basically I've been trying to do a complete 180 on the types of food I eat, as well as decreasing the amount of food I eat in general. I've also been hitting the gym almost daily. I even got a personal trailer.

I can deal with the daily solo exercise. I can even deal with the completely exhausting one-on-one sessions my trainer puts me through. But this dieting business is something else entirely....

Basically I hate all this food I'm "supposed" to eat, except for the red meat and fish. I hate it because it just doesn't appeal to me, but I'm also adverse to it simply because I'm told that I should eat it. Its the stupidly rebellious child in me.

I had the same reaction. I never would have guessed.

That being said, I too am a fan of Mr. Squarepants.

Speaking of delicious food, I am so very very full of the best damn homemade chicken parmigiana I've ever tasted. The chicken breast was over an inch thick, the size of my wrist, and was breaded with a blend of crumbs, saltine crackers, and brown sugar for a really thick, crunchy and somewhat sweet-glaze coating. Plus the mozzarella was like this gourmet shredded kind we got made at Fresh Market. Freaking mind-blowing.

And yes, continuing this tiny thread within the tapestry of the chat, NightDragon and myself are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head that are SCADies. I've heard a couple others voice up in here from time to time, but I can't immediately recall who they are. Good school, phenomenal experiences and fantastic work environments, but wayyyyy too pricey (particularly for grad school... God help me).

For me, SCAD ended up being the cheapest art school I could've gone to. The scholarship they gave me has knocked off $35,000 for the three years I've spent here. Even without a scholarship, SCAD is still one of the cheaper options, if you're looking into the "well known" art colleges (the last time I checked). RISD and all the other "art ivy leagues" are inhumanely fucking expensive, especially when you compare them with SCAD.

And yeah, off the top of my head, I can't think of any other SCAD forumers, though I definitely remember there were others aside from Peter and myself.
