I think I'm the only person who actually liked book seven. My grandpa has a theory that King has been getting steadily worse since he got off the drugs.
I liked book 7, it completed that series in the only way I could see working.
Book 7 was a great book; there were just certain things about it that bothered me.
Namely, how he handled RF, Mordred and the CK.
everything else was as it should have been. Ka is a wheel and all that.

The Crimson King was sooo much scarier as a catfish god, IMO.
Apparently King is a great believer in the banality of evil, which may or may not work depending on your point of view. I felt like, given the context of the rest of the book, it didn't even matter to me that the King was less scary then when he was basically this big unknown.
You know what my worst time on acid was? I took it while camping, and I had to lock myself inside my tent for 12 hours because I literally could not stop laughing or giggling at anything and everything. It was nonstop childlike joy for half a day straight.
Yes, that was my worst time.
I was on for a week straight at Bonnaroo. Got separated from my group when Bob Dylan started barking into a microphone. I just wander around. Half of the farm was ploughed, the other had grown up. We were camping in the soft, lush, red bug riddled grown fields.
After my disgust with the Dylan show I wanted to go back to my camp to get my bearings straight, wait for Primus, and then come back.
Well I accidentally go to the ploughed side and immediately freak out. A TORNADO HAS COME AND WASTED THE ENTIRE CAMPSITE. Wait. That can't be right. A quick look around. Wrong side!
On my way back into the venue this smoking hot black girl who works the turnstile stopped me. OMG IM BUSTED. No, wait, I'm surrounded by hippies. That can't be right. She wanted the time. I'm completely out of my head, trying to get a look at my watch, and nothing. I just tell her it's somewhere between here and then and she laughs. If I had been even remotely sober I would have guessed she was probably trying to chat me up.
So I'm lost, I just stop at the occasional tree and drink some water. Every 30 minutes or so someone sits next to me, we have a conversation, I'm sure I let them know of my predicament. Every visitor either doses me up with LSD or X. This continued well into the morning. Made Dave Matthews listenable. I guess. I mean, fuck, I don't remember much.
I make it back to the Grateful Dead show just in time to see them play Shine On you Crazy Diamond segued into Dark Star segued back into Shine On.
Mind.
Blown.
I'm still in a far out world as we queue up to get off the farm. Tons of cops and sheriffs around. The dates I was with asked the cops if we could smoke a bowl without getting into trouble if they flashed the officers. They were happy to oblige.
I was freaking out. "HEY OFFICER. CAN WE SMOKE THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS? *HOLDS UP BLUNT OF SWEET SWEET CHEEBA* WE'LL SHOW YOU OUR TIIIIIIIIITS!"

Why is it that nobody knows when to use 'diffuse' and when to use 'defuse'? Defuse means to disable, diffuse means to spread around (and often make ineffective). They're sometimes similar, but not interchangeable by any stretch of the imagination.

came from. I guess I'd never really thought of the King as the book's primary antagonist anyway. That was more like Flagg, and I don't even remember what happened to him. So I think it was climactic not in a good vs. evil sense but in a more personal sense. Like, the Crimson King wasn't relevant as a bad guy but just as the final obstacle between Roland and his destination.

Are some of you familiar with Toribash? It's a fun little game on the surface, but I accidentally wandered in to their forums and that shit is like a sect.
There are several levels of forum-hawtness each costing 10 dollar and you have to pay for everything from the right to have a picture in your sig. Then there are equally worthless things available for lots of money in the game itself. And this place is full of people paying for that stuff.
Apparently people can make money of the strangest things.
The Stardock CEO is suck an unmittigated jackass that I really cannot bring myself to support his platform or his companies products anymore. (note that Stardock is a small privately owned company so the identification of the person of the CEO / owner with the company is valid when that would not be the case in a large public corporation)
