I like Windows 7 and all but I also like XP D:

I'm not really sure what makes a computer old and crappy, apparently. I mean, I'm running 7 on a machine I just put together a few weeks ago, but apparently it's old and crappy, so who can tell?

mully, we just don't have teefs's natural ability to instantly know everything about things.

Sure thing, teefs, whatever you just said. I'm tired of clicking "View Post."

Anyway, I tried Chrome a few months back, when I was still running Vista here at work. It didn't conform to my theme (Classic) then, so I never bothered with it. For all I know it conforms perfectly now, I can't be bothered to install each new version of every app I don't like, just in case I like one of them now.

I've been using Chrome since it was first released and it's come a long way. For the most part I don't mind it not matching themes. If I wanted an OS that had a consistent UI I'd use OSX.

Yeah I've had Chrome installed and running as my primary browser on my home laptop since the day it launched. At first I didn't change back to Firefox out of laziness, but now I won't change back because it has the extensions that I need and that's that I guess. It seems to run pretty slick most of the time, too.

I still run a mix of IE/FF at work though.

If I remember correctly it beats the pants off it in terms of benchmarks.

They're both perfectly fine for everyday use, it's just a matter of personal preference.

It's been well over a year since I really played with another browser, so I couldn't really tell you, especially now that Chrome has extensions.

I like being able to separate one window with two tabs into two windows with one tab.
My screen seems bigger with chrome.
I've been told it runs faster but honestly I haven't noticed.
Any add-ons for firefox that I was using had chrome extension equivalents when I switched.

I think that's pretty much the case for me. I probably use them both in equal amounts. At work I use FF because it currently has a better web developer tool bar and our CMS is optimised to run in FF, but at home I use Chrome and I don't tend to do anything heavy-duty so it handles whatever I throw at it very well.

Also Firefox does this thing where if I close it and then try to open it again within about ten seconds, it crashes.

How is it implemented? Does it just type it into the other machine, or what?

Try it with just a huge amount of text. Like, a big term paper. Or a Defender post.

Just copied and pasted the Wikipedia entry on the US Declaration of Independence and it worked fine.

For files it's not a huge issue since I can just throw'em into Dropbox and it'll sync automatically.

Also, I'm gonna second that thing about Chrome making it feel as though the browser is larger, because, well, it is. Chrome got rid of/hides a lot of options and tweaks so you have more space to do what a browser is supposed to do.

Yeah, that's one of the things I really like about Opera, too. You can really trim it down. Apparently my actual browser pane right now is 2046x1073, out of 2048x1152 screen resolution. (You can have it tell you in the title bar. It seems like a weird feature, but I like leaving it on, I don't know why.)
