[Starcraft 2]: My life for BETA (now live!)

Because some people still seem to not know, Starcraft 2 will have lan!

Visit http://www.starcraft2.com/features/ to learn more about the game (although you should know everything already).

Beta Invite Information
I attended BlizzCon 2008 and received a code for the StarCraft II beta. Do I have to go through this process?

There is a separate process in place for players who received StarCraft II beta codes from BlizzCon 2008. To redeem your BlizzCon 2008 beta code, visit the beta sign-up page (don’t worry that the page says World of Warcraft), and enter the code from your BlizzCon 2008 card, along with a valid email address that you check often.

Once you’ve completed these steps, we will contact you via email at some point during the StarCraft II testing process with further instructions. Please note that in order to participate after your receive the invitation, you will need to sign up for a new Battle.net account (if you haven’t done so already).

Will opting in early improve my chances of being selected?

Beta invitees will be selected periodically from the entire pool of players who have chosen to opt in and who meet the requirements. Opting in early doesn’t mean you’ll be invited sooner than someone who signs up after you.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty
Four years after the Brood War devastated the Koprulu sector, most of the superficial damage has been repaired - but the true wounds still run deep, and far away from human eyes, the zerg's final metamorphosis has only begun.

Wooo, won my first game. Felt a little lame though since I basically just played it like I would have in SC1.

Really annoying that they changed the hotkeys around so that's a little hard getting used to.

WHat the fuck, why would they do that?

Warcraft 3 had customisable hotkeys, so I'd assume SC2 will too.

I think someone on the 1up stream just said that only press and SC1 pros have beta access right now.

Giant Bomb has a stream, but they're not broadcasting anything yet.

Bunch of streams from the best USA SC1 players. Probably these guys will stream SC1 games as well when practicing for tournaments.

That can't be true. Some dude sat in his base, didn't expand, and tried to build carriers.

The opposing zerg had the whole map and 200/200 for awhile before he squelched his existence in that game.

EDIT: Maybe he was press. Not too sure now. What about the other dudes from PA? Pros or press?

Really annoying that they changed the hotkeys around so that's a little hard getting used to.

WHat the fuck, why would they do that?

Warcraft 3 had customisable hotkeys, so I'd assume SC2 will too.

    but the question still remains

why would they change a perfectly good setup

I think the most annoying change is changing the probe from p to e, especially since I generally have 9 and 0 bound as my two most important nexus(es??).

Actually being limited to press/pros makes sense, kinda, seeing as there is streaming. Blizzard is usually pretty strict with their betas and their privacy. They wouldn't let just anyone stream.

Also, 1up stream a guy said "fuck no" to the question "do you want to play". Terrible testers.

The Zerg on that game was EG.Machine, USA "pro". I put pro in quotation marks cause no one outside of Korea actually makes a living off SC1 :p

But yeah it's definitely not just press and SC1 pros right now.

They've changed them for the better it seems, at least if you use your mouse with your right hand. All the hot keys seem to stick to the left side of the keyboard around ASDF so you don't have to reach across the keyboard like in SC1.
