I mentioned writing this last night, so as requested, here it is:
Assuming a 5v5 match, 2-3 champs should do primarily magical and 2-3 champs should be primarily physical damage to prevent the enemy team from gearing against just one type of damage.
With that in mind, some champions are genuine 'hybrids,' because one or two skills will deal magical frequently, but otherwise they are auto-attacking for most of the match - this means they can conceivably gear for either type of damage, but that's rare. In most cases here Alacrity marks are preferred, especially if they have an on-hit passive: Nunu, Taric, and Teemo are most deserving here.
If you see <summoner> showing <some percentage>, I did that by checking their profile and sorting from high to low numbers. To minimize the margin of error, I didn't calculate unless they had 20+ wins.
Alistar - Physical
- Bigwah is showing 52% Physical damage for Alistar. I assume most of the magical is Pulverize, especially on minions
- I only have 9 wins with Alistar, but am showing 63% physical
- Common sense says Physical, especially with Sheen vs. turrets. Holding off for now.

Ashe - Physical
Blitzcrank - Toss-up

- Burning Agony and Cleaver are magic damage. However, I'm not convinced he belongs in the "Magic" side of things

Haha, I got my steam account disabled somehow so while waiting for the response to my claim I fired this back up and reacquainted myself with my first love Blitz.
After the game I just played with him this music fits perfectly. Just Blitz blitz blitzing around the map till I find my target and then BLAMMO! Right in their soft parts!

The only non-magic skill is Bloodboil which receives no benefits from AP or physics.
And if you build him towards AP with a liche bane he does insane physical damage
