    I'm pretty sure this game just hates me

    I'm running through the Elite 4 just leveling a new Mon

    They get a crit every time it could possibly kill one of my Pokemon

    I get a crit when the enemy is at 5HP

    And I miss twice as often for no adequately explored reason, particular odd since every one of my leveling team is 10 levels above Cynthia's stupid Garchomp.

    EDIT: Oh look Lucien's Bronzong just survived with a single HP and crit my with EQ. Wonderful.

    Decided to check one of my pokemon's IVs on the off-chance it would learn an interesting Hidden Power.

    Hp - 6
    Attk - 2
    Def - 30
    SpAttk - 27
    SpDef - 22
    Spd - 31

    Gives me a 70 power Ghost. Shame about the HP and attack but damn everything else looks fine as hell.

    IVs are random numbers that are assigned to each stat. An IV can be anything from 0 to 31. Each IV point translates to an extra point in that stat at level 100.

    While good IVs are always preferable to bad ones, the main IV that's important is speed, since you want to be able to outrun (or in a few cases, be slower than) as many Pokemon as possible.

    HP is also important if you're weak to stealth rock, because since it rounds down it will let you switch in an extra time. For example, a Pokemon with 300 HP that's weak to SR can only switch in 3 times, but one with 201 HP can switch in 4 times, having 1 HP left after the fourth switch.

    Also the power and type of the move Hidden Power depends on what IVs the Pokemon has.

    Hidden Power's base damage and type are generated from your Pokemon's IVs.

    You can find out what Hidden Power your Pokemon can get with an IV Calculator.

    If one of Brobarel's Super Fangs hadn't missed I wouldn't have had to waste Snorlax on breaking your sub.
