I did the same. By the end of it I was just getting bored. Situations were so contrived, very little resolution (ever), characters introduced with no depth merely to take part in another angsty teenage girl cliché.

There are moments of brilliance (Gwen describing the Spider-Man/Sandman fight is great) but on the whole it just feels like it's going nowhere.

i guess series like these are like a nice dessert

very light, not too much reading, and nothing heavy but very fun

no need to remember pre existing stuff like the first time you pick up runaways.

best line of the series though:

spidey: I for one know that youll be okay MJ
    *hugs MJ*
    MJ: Ow ow OW!
Spidey: ...proportionate strength of a spider...sorry

I've just thought something - this book is pretty clever.

Well, OK, it's not, but even so:

Spidey books always used to be about Parker pursuing the unattainable Mary Jane. Whit this book Peter is the unattainable one, while MJ flip-flops around pursuing him!

    The paradigm has been shifted.

Every time I pick up the new issue I get a little worried because I don't know if Gwen will make it through. I mean, it'd be really messed up, but I can see someone doing that out of cruelty.
