I like that green oxidized sword a whole lot. I'm really drawn to the texture and colors in that one.

The environment sketches seem like they're hints of ideas, but not much more than that. Are you planning on developing any of them further?

    Thanks!

Yeah they were just simple color comp studies. Still havent found a good idea yet. Just some explorations of a hub environment.

the swords are bitchin' but the handle on the big stone one doesn't look like it goes with it.

e: wait, nevermind. sword in the stone, right? once it comes out, it's the sword on the right. I see that now.

    The stone is called Ledburg.

And the blade inside is called Excelsior.

You don't get to wield Excelsior, since the main character is going to be female. And girls can't be kings. So you wield Ledburg.

Hey guys here's a business card I'm working on. This will be the front. The back will be all techno.

Im gonna add some hanging vines or willow thingies.. My name will be engraved into the stone.

prob gonna add some moss to the rocks too.

Trying to figure out a way to carve texture artist into the wood to and make it readable.

    bizcard.jpg

    ideas?

You could try having texture artist simply represented by a different wood - ie having the letters made of mahogany or something, so that the letters are differentiated purely by their texture (which is quite meta, now I think about it).

Also, when I am less crap at drawing I will do a sword dog fanart. She will have her legs stuck in a block but she won't care.

I really like the willows. They look awesome!

EDIT: I found myself doing a tiny double take when looking at the wood at the front - I didn't realise it had a top plane for a bit. Maybe lighten the value on the top plane a teeny bit?

    Might just be me though.

I was going to say this too. Also, what is the wood sitting on? At the moment it looks like it's hovering above the grass, but that might be intentional. The thing I love about all of your drawings is your sense of colour; it always seems to fix the mood exactly. :^:

From a marketing POV, are you sure you want to only say "I'm a texture artist"? I mean, i dunno if this is your ultimate goal... but if I were you, I'd try to come up with a title that wont pigeon hole you.

What other skills do you want to show case?

Well from a marketing perspective, it's what i need to do. People aren't looking for generalists. They need someone specific.

Prox, why don't you make yourself a little booklet for your potential employers to keep? It could serve as a sampler of your work and you can drop your contact info and other skills. It's not expensive to print!

    http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/27362/PreGDC_Career_Pavilion_Hints__Tips_For_Success.php

While a lot of it is standard stuff that you've probably already heard, there might be a few things in there that you could use.

Have you made CD's that have your resume and portfolio on them? I've heard quite a few times that employers like that. Obviously you'd want paper copies, as well.

GDC was off the hook. Spent a lot of time showing my portfolio around. Blizzard said my stuff still needs work. But riot games might contact me. Stopped by the telltale booth as well. I have pretty good idea on how to improve my portfolio from this point forward. Totally worth going. If I save up some more money, I might consider getting a better pass next time. I felt left out of the conferences.

So tiring. but also rewarding. Below are some pictures.

obviously diamonds and gashes are what makes WoW the best game ever, personally form what I get from that is to put a little more detail into the picture, not only extra things to draw the eye but also wear and tear of equipment and the like, but I'm a pretty terrible artist so take that as you will
