As for Zim, I would strongly doubt the wisdom of getting any cartoon character tattooed, but at least it's from a good one. Though I could see a Loony Toon being pretty cool too.

It's an entirely new series that has little to nothing to do with the old one. The old FMA series apparently was not very faithful to the original story, outside of the first 15 or so episodes. Other than the first 7 or so of FMA Brotherhood, you will find that the story is much different.
EDIT2: So far, most of the voices are the same. Noticeable differences are Al's voice and Scar's voice. And holy crap are they different (read: not as good)
