Hey Kakos, RMS or whoever else knows a thing or two about making websites...
Is it like a lot of work to make a site as smooth as http://www.amnesty.org/ what with the flash elements and everything? It looks pretty simple, but I've learned that is usually a sign that there's a lot of hard labour in it.
I don't know much about website design either, except Flash is the fucking devil. Sorry.
A new pet store has opened that I pass by on my way home from work, and omg they have the cutest puppies in the window god I want a puppy but I can't have one.
damn it, who are the techies around here anyway? I'm sorry I think I got both of you confused with other people.
No, we are two of the techies. But we're not website developers. Honestly, most people who are computer savvy around here are probably pretty retarded when it comes to websites. Most of us are coders and shit.
I'm a techie, more on the coding side but I've had to help build websites as well. Good websites are hard to do, because a) browsers are finicky and differ in their interpretation of html and b) good public websites are accessible, which is a pain to do. It really depends on what you want your website to do and who it's for.
Yeah. It's 04:00 here. I should get to bed. Night, [chat].
RMS: To answer your question seriously though, my typical pay when I am gainfully employed is in the $60k range.
Yeah, I figured that. I know US salaries are higher than Northern Ireland, but I'm still badly underpaid: The average salary for my type of work should be closer to like £24000.

Short answer: yes.
The biggest bitch is usually getting it to work on all browsers, as they all like to do things differently.
Also, flash is generally a bugger to work with, but the example on the amnesty site probably wouldn't be that hard to do, as it's not doing anything especially intricate.

thought so. Thanks.
The marketing lady was pointing us to amnesty.org as an example of a nice site. Was just wondering what kind of volunteer we might have to attract to get quality work. I mean, I know enough guys who have made their own little websites, but we'd need a professional or settle for less here.

My expertise is in Java-based pieces of software, not websites.
And Raiden, Widget is a "she".
To be fair, she isn't particularly bright.
Here's another picture. Cutethulhu sighting!
Dude. Retarded isn't necessarily a bad thing. Your cat just looks like it has some serious down syndrome. Downies can be a lot of fun though!
[tiny]I'm sorry. Please love me again.[/tiny]

You insulted my cat.
You crossed a line.
A line that can never be, um........re......crossed......
Just imagine how disappointed Inq will be.
I'm currently on £18600 a year, or around $27500.
Dude. I didn't insult. I was simply making an observation. Any cat that gives high fives is pretty awesome in my books.
Currently? $0 a year, which I believe works out to about £0 a year.
Well....okay.
You're off the hook........this time.
Edit: Anyway, bedtime. 'Night [chat].
I dunno, the way the Pound is looking right now, it could equal £10000 before long. :P

The comic is even worse.
I only ever saw it in relation to the 'your webcomic is terrible and you should feel terrible' blog that was up for a while. That blog was great.

Is that because I make millions of yen every year and I make you feel inadequate?
Oh yeah? Well I make trillions of dollars.
Zimbabwe dollars.
Everyone knows that Yen are just M&Ms.
