    This was pretty good.

I think it's going to take a little bit for me to get settled into the characters and all that, but I'm certainly enjoying what I've seen.

The HD is almost jarring. It comes off as so damn clear and crisp it seems slightly unnatural.

That was really fantastic. Looking forward to the rest.

I can't tell any of these characters apart, though.

So, pretty much the same as BoB.

I think by the 5th or 6th time I watched it, I knew everyone's name, and it brought the series to an entirely new level for me.

I knew Winters and Nixon, though. This seemed to jump around a whole lot between different groups of guys.

Since this is telling three different stories, it's going to take a bit to keep straight, but I think once it gets rolling it'll be fantastic.

Though, I think the first episode should have been double length. It would have really helped the hook. Either way, I know what I'm doing on Sunday nights for the next 10 weeks.

Yeah it took a couple episodes to get the hang of SO MANY AWESOME DUDES in BoB

I don't know if the soldiers in The Pacific can top my love for everyone in Easy Company, but if it gets anywhere close it will still be amazing

I read Eugene Sledge's book. The characters in it easily matched my adoration of Easy Company. I'd highly recommend his book (With the Old Breed) for anyone who is a fan of BoB or The Pacific.

That first episode was fantastic! I've been waiting for this but was worried that BoB was too awesome for this to compare but fuck that, I can already see after the first episode that this is going to be outstanding.

"...you're surely fucked now." Damn, I love that line.

Finally got a chance to see this.

Was really great. I think because I know what happens there, it makes more sense to me. I will have to make sure I don't pause to explain the battles.

So happy with William Sadler as Chesty Puller.

I finally watched this and am super-excited for more.

So excited that I've been falling asleep with Band of Brothers on and waking up at 3:00 a.m. to the DVD title screen music on an endless loop. Which, I mean... is pretty excited, because that ends up very annoying.

I didn't even notice the music particularly, and normally I'm tuned in to that sort of irritation, so it's either an overabundance of enthusiasm getting in my way or my ears are broken.

The first time I watched it I was going of only a couple hours of sleep and fell asleep during the 14 minutes of basically nothing happening while they walked around the island. I know it was 14 minutes because I rewatched it and timed that part to self-rationalize why I'd fall asleep during something I've been looking forward to so much.

I felt the same way. I thought the racially derogatory stuff was a little over the top, too. I wasn't offended or anything, it just felt like they were trying to force the "they're the bad guys and we're supposed to hate them" angle. But I was kinda hoping that it was just because I went in being afraid of that exact thing happening.

I'm also eagerly awaiting Sunday evening. But has anyone else read any previews of it?

I can't remember where (or even if it was a TV or in print), but I remember hearing that they toned down alot of the grittiness of BoB and substituted a more cheerleaderish "we're the good guys, they're the bad guys" feeling (which I can't remember ever feeling while watching BoB). The rationale was that BoB was created pre-9/11, when the American public was more comfortable with the grittiness.

I have absolutely no idea how valid that point is, or even how trustworthy the source was (as I can't remember where it came from). But it definitely seems like something right up Spielberg's alley. I'm still really excited, but I have a tiny bit of doubt creeping into the back of my mind.
