I figured i'd post this stuff in my own thread so I don't bog down the resolution thread with this real remedial stuff.
I'm starting on drawspaces tutorials, and working through them. I probably should spend more time or repeat each lesson several times, but i'm doing what my lunch time (1 hour a day with interruptions) can afford me.
Getting familiar with my pencil set, and practicing negative space and then shapes on a picture of a duck candle.
Life draw for the same 2 lessons
Symmetry (first shape provided, second was a design yourself thing) - Apparently it's good practice to do at least one of those a day, so i'll work on it.
Terrible stuff. But hey, i gotta start somewhere.

I used her as the reference.
I scanned the original art and played with the pen tool for the first time in photoshop to outline my drawing.
Couple things:
-In your drawing, it looks like the women's lips are pursed. In the photo (even if it was blocked out in white) they're very relaxed. You'll notice that she has a larger bottom lip than what you drew, which makes the indent from her lower lip to her chin, smaller.
-Also, the indent from the bridge of her nose to brow/forehead should be deeper in your drawing. It's a bit lacking, especially on the left one.
I'll add more later, and make it less jumbled, as I'm suuuper tired. Great work though, and keep at it!

Bebarce: There's defiantely some improvements going on in this thread. You seem to be getting better at keeping both halfs Identical, but your right half seems to be more inconsistent and less confident than the left.
But it would definitely explain why the image seems less confident. It also almost takes me twice as long as i keep checking back and forth. I thought this was part of the process though.
It will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Edit: When you draw the contour lines, do you look at the one side, then over to the side you're working on and then start drawing? Like...are your eyes going back and fourth?
If you are, you should try just looking at the one side while drawing the other. Try focusing on the way your pencil is moving, and try and try to mimic the path your eye is moving with your pencil.

Although looking at the drawing, I am aware that branches should taper down and not thicken as they extend from the trunk.
