The enforcers working the line before the Kurtz evening panel were superb and really made it a fun time, even though they eventually took away the recycling bin our friends were playing Munchkin on. Minus the usual few exceptions, they were helpful and really a class act.
That was me, Flip, and Khan, along with DrBilly and Ent On Fire. I was the tall guy with the black hair and glasses.
Also, can you please agree with me that that Kurtz panel was awesome?
Nice job Enforcers! All you guys were real helpful and (most of the time) knew exactly where I had to go if I was having a problem finding a specific room/hall/expo space.
AND the fact that there was one at nearly every turn, when needed, was nice to see.
1) After waiting in line in the queue room for about 40 minutes for the Friday night concert, I step out to use the restroom, leaving my girlfriend in line with my stuff (I forgot about the restroom in the queue room itself, and I wasn't the only one). There is no one watching the queue room door when I leave. When I return 4 minutes later, a Hynes staff member is guarding the door, and will not let me back in. There are at least 3 other people standing there who did the same thing, and would not be let in because they were supposedly "over capacity" (note that the main theater wasn't even full when we finally got in there, so that was a blatant lie). I got into a heated discussion about the subject with the Hynes staffer, who claimed to be the supervisor when I asked for the supervisor, and who was backed up by a woman who wasn't doing anything but standing there, but refused to take me in to prove that my girlfriend was actually in line, saving my spot. There was some yelling from both sides.
An enforcer shows up, and in about 20 seconds flat defuses the altercation and takes me into the queue room. He listens patiently while I continue to yell about how angry I am. Then I apologized to him and thanked him. I'm glad that PAX and our money won't be returning to Hynes ever again, and I love the enforcers.
I still do sincerely apologize for that. We did have a bit of an issue with the MCCA staff that night, particularly with the non-wristband line. I had stepped over to the other side of the Queue room to double check that the people taking care of the wristband line were all set and when I came back they had set up shop at the doors. Seeing you over there they quickly turned to my assistance and after I had lead you back to the line I took over the front door situation to try and keep things running as smoothly as possible there. We learned a lot from that night and we definitely took that into Saturday nights concert and things ran much smoother.
Also I do also apologize if I ruined anyone's hopes this past weekend. I found myself on Saturday and Sunday turning my Merch hat into Fleshreaper mode far too often to cap lines and inform people they couldn't go into certain events or areas. In spite of all my bad news giving I really only had to invoke Wheaton's Law once and the rest of you made my job an absolute breeze.
And the Mars bar when I was blocking the Closing Ceremony line from the escalators was just the pick-me-up I needed on Sunday!
This is the greatest man we met at the show. This is the greatest man at the show. period.
After taking photos with fans someone grabbed one of our team mates packs a broke a lot of it. like half the gun came apart and the person just took off. no apology.

Aside from a blanket "YOU ROCK" to all the enforcers, I just want to give a special thank you to the enforcers that guarded the doors to the BYOC. They put up with my constant running back and forth getting cookies for the Cookie Brigade with a smile. So much love for the Enforcers!
And thank you for getting me a hot chocolate even though it wanted to be all over your hands instead of in the cup

Please let me make something clear: the only reason I had to ask you to stop screaming was that the venue staff, not being gamers at all, had no idea you were doing a fantastic L4D cosplay. You can imagine what they thought! I told them it was fine, and then spoke to you. I was more than pleased with your helpful, if somewhat embarrassed, response (and your awesome costume)! What you might not know is that my colleague downstairs also intercepted venue staff before she spoke to you. One of the main functions of the Security Management team in particular, and all Enforcers in general, is that we act as a buffer between attendees and venue staff/security. Reading your upbeat post makes me happy, as it shows that we had a measure of success in this regard.
PS: Yep, the 'kilt guy' is indeed our Security Chief, AaronC, who along with myself and our fine colleague Jonah Hex form the PAX East Security Management team, identifiable by our tongue in cheek military berets. Thanks to anyone I or my colleagues had to ask to move, squeeze up in a line, drop a too-realistic weapon in their hotel rooms, calm down from being agitated, and so on... including, in my case, move a recycling bin that'd been relocated for a game of Munchkin in line ;-) You were all great, and I can't wait to see many of the same faces at Prime.
First post here, but I wanted to join up for a few reasons, one of them being to specifically thank the amazing enforcer that was wandering around Exhibition Hall D and making sure the Ubisoft guys weren't so loud that we wouldn't have to scream to talk to people at our booth. I too would like to echo the general love and appreciation for enforcers. We go to a lot of conventions, and I cannot think of anyone anywhere where the volunteers are so well organized, kind, and helpful.
I especially should thank the enforcer in our section of the expo hall, rPenguin, who went above and beyond to help us through the show. But really, that doesn't come anywhere near conveying how much every enforcer we interacted with was willing to help us out, and how we had nothing but positive interactions with all of them.
Really, what i'm saying is, the enforcers rocked.

I just wanted to give props to all the attendees in awesome costumes, and how they were all pretty cool with moving out of 'choke points' in the halls! Oh, and for posing when I was snapping shots with my iPhone :P

Just a tidbit of information you might find interesting: about 60% of the enforcers for east were brand spankin' new, never been to PAX before. Here's a shout-out to them, from a veteran enforcer: YOU GUYS DID AWESOME. THIS THREAD IS YOUR PRROF.
Edit: I have been corrected. The number is more like 75% new enforcers.
Special shout out to Sesh who was the assigned enforcer to the PlayOn booth. Us Zaxy girls gave him a run-around with awesome swag we saw but didn't have time to grab, and he was able to find it for us. PLUS he showed me his awesome level 50 character on Puzzle Quest, and any puzzle quester is good in my book.
A big thank you as well to the Enforcers that pointed me in the direction of D&D on Microsoft Surface. One of them even offered to escort me down there!

ON AN ENTIRELY UNRELATED NOTE
I would like to reflect some of the other Enforcers' sentiments regarding you lovely attendees as well. Working in the PA Merch Booth is a challenge, and you guys keep us constantly busy. But even when we started running out of EVERYTHING (which happened around 4PM Friday afternoon, unfortunately), you all were super nice about it. Had it been in my power to conjure up some extra scarves for everyone who wanted one, I would have done so in a heartbeat. I am always proud to be part of this community, and it is everyone in it, Enforcers and attendees alike, that keep me coming back year after year. Thank you.

PAX would not exist without the Enforcers. If we tried to run a show without them it would be completely disorganized, way more expensive, and have none of the community vibe. In short, it would suck.
"That guy in the utilikilt" was definitely my favorite enforcer haha
edit: oh! and big props to david and the rest of the pa staff who were manning the PA merch booth, from opening at 10 am to closing at 2 am. takes a lot of dedication (and monster energy drinks) to stay up that long

Really wish I'd gotten the name of the Enforcer who helped me out on the first day. I couldn't find the way to get up to BYOC and was misdirected three times. With tears of frustration in my eyes, I asked a passing Enforcer for help and, seeing how upset I was, he escorted me all the way up to the BYOC doors on the third floor.
You guys give a positive meaning to the geek term, "red shirts"!

Was my first PAX, and was awesome being an enforcer. The guys are really like family know, best people in the world

I never got the name of the one at PC freeplay with the cowboy hat, he begged my group to participate in an AvP tournament that we failed miserably at -- but it was lots of fun. Hey all, this is JediFreeman, one of the Enforcers that spent a lot of time moving around the show taking care of various things.
I want to say to all the attendees who were patient when I had to come by and squeeze the line, and that I greatly appreciate the understanding that people had regarding the Bill Amend panel line issues (I am the guy who apologized on the mic at the end of the panel).
I'd like to send a special thank you to the cute red head enforcerette who was working the Console Freeplay Saturday morning/afternoon. I thought she was cute and I wanted to say so, but given the line that was there and that PAX isn't a dating service, I didn't do so for the sake of keeping everyone playing.

Ok in all seriousness I'd like to thank all the enforcers for all the hard work they did. Especialy a shout out to Jonah(?) for hsi work in the main theater on Saturday night. Also thanks to meatsheild for being that guy in a suit of armor to greet you as you stumble in.

As so many of my brethren of the Red have said, we really, truly, could not have done our jobs without all the cooperation we got from you, the attendees.
To all of you who smiled, laughed, and went along with my epic game of "Human Tetris" in the main line every morning, thank you. I asked you to give up much space, and not once did someone complain.
And to the Cookie Brigade members who twice saved my breakfast-forgetting butt, thank you.
Just wanted to also say thanks to all the attendees, my fellow Enforcers, the PA staff and everyone else for making the first PAX East one of EPIC WIN! Enforcers are just one part of the family of PAX. I cannot wait for the next time we all get to greet each other with a warm "Welcome Home"!
Thanks as well. I was the guy who kept asking people in the Main Theater to move up a little bit to clear an aisle in the back and not to hang out ona nd around the risers.
I don't speak loud and I could barely talk on Friday/Saturday night so if it looked like I wasn't saying anything and hand gesturing and you thought I was a dbag I apologize. I promise every time I said something like, "Sorry to bother you but can you move forward or back so we have an aisle".
Every one I asked moved without a problem(except for one guy) and it made life super easy. Thanks to all the awesome attendees!

Big Jon here, let me echo this:
I was stationed at the PC freeplay area. Unlike most of PAX, this was a semi-secure area that required sign up to enter, and we weren't able to allow people in to hang out or spectate or visit. I was basically telling people "NO U CANT HAZ" all day long.
Out of the thousands of people I dealt with, whether it was just a quick check or being redirected to somewhere, or even being turned away, no one were dicks about it. There just wasn't any drama or attitude. NONE. Even the people that had been waiting for a while, or been told to go somewhere six times before I stopped them, or had passes I had to check were completely cool about it. Even the PC tourney players that got juggled from place to place were cool despite the frustration.
I've worked door at other places, and the cooperative attitude I got from everyone there, enforcer or not, just blew me away. It was surreal. And awesome. Thanks.
@Zetta - 'Senor_Siete' was the cowboy at PC freeplay. Dunno if he posts here but I passed it on. Thanks.
Speaking as someone who was doing a lot of 'NO U CANT HAZ' all weekend as well (PC Security with a smattering of Line Management), I would like to echo the sentiments that the attendees were just as awesome as the claims they lay on the feet of us Enforcers. Nothing negative out of anyone the entire weekend, even when I ended up being the one with the 'Main Theatre Closed' sign as the closing ceremonies line filled up.
Props are in order.
Also, 'Deluxe Hugs' guy, that sign ruled.

I don't speak loud and I could barely talk on Friday/Saturday night so if it looked like I wasn't saying anything and hand gesturing and you thought I was a dbag I apologize. I promise every time I said something like, "Sorry to bother you but can you move forward or back so we have an aisle".
Every one I asked moved without a problem(except for one guy) and it made life super easy. Thanks to all the awesome attendees!
I was stationed at the PC freeplay area. Unlike most of PAX, this was a semi-secure area that required sign up to enter, and we weren't able to allow people in to hang out or spectate or visit. I was basically telling people "NO U CANT HAZ" all day long.
Out of the thousands of people I dealt with, whether it was just a quick check or being redirected to somewhere, or even being turned away, no one were dicks about it. There just wasn't any drama or attitude. NONE. Even the people that had been waiting for a while, or been told to go somewhere six times before I stopped them, or had passes I had to check were completely cool about it. Even the PC tourney players that got juggled from place to place were cool despite the frustration.
I've worked door at other places, and the cooperative attitude I got from everyone there, enforcer or not, just blew me away. It was surreal. And awesome. Thanks.
