Some of it is admittedly a little useless, but cloaking your units, making your enemy think you had opposites, etc etc is critical in getting your opponent to think a certain way. It plays out more like a traditional RTS in big team fights, but 1v1, it is all about feinting and double feinting and getting your opponent to specialize in a certain type of offense or defense that is not in his best interests. and then when he has invested you strike.
this is possible because each units has very clear roles, and the game follows a strict rock paper scissors format. there is no micro. it is all about anticipating what your opponent is doing, and preempting him, and the game gives you enough tools for you to be clever and sneaky.
and of course there are also a lot of gamey elements like each faction having their own strengths and weaknesses, but I feel like that's all aside from what I really find fascinating about the game.
Also very annoyed that my harominica is definitely busted, not that it was pricey but still, bleh. So much for trying to giving learning it another shot.
I've been lead to believe that I'm a pretty empathetic guy. I guess I just found the situation so outlandish and ridiculous I could not empathize with it.
