i'm glad you made this thread bale.
So far I am only on chapter 3, and I am so eager to grind up levels there are crystals to unlock but then I remember I dont know what is going on in the fights because everything happens so quickly.

Also I think this is the best looking game I have ever played

    it is not that complex!

commando is the physical damage class

ravager is the magic damage class

medic is the healing class (duh)

    Sentinel is a defensive/tank class

    Saboteur is a debuff class

and Synergist is a buffing class.

The first and only real "trick" you need to know is that commando attacks will make it so the stagger meter drops slower, giving you more time to get another hit in and build it before it drops back to zero, while ravager attacks fill the actual stagger bar faster.

Commandos also have the ability to totally stun some stagger enemies with the launch attack.

To be fair I think there have only been like 3 fights with the classes available up to this point!

also I know it was said already but the music is great. I am thinking of purchasing the soundtrack.

I used Fang/Light/Vanille for a long time but realized it was super redundant and Hope was a better Mage all around.

Also for Stage 9 at least the only thing Snow has going for him is tons and tons of HP.

Snow is far and away the best sentinel by the end of the game, but you don't often need the best sentinel. He's a crap ravager and a good commando, so he's kind of hard to work in.

I felt like the plot of the game kind of fell apart after chapter 9. So, good luck with that! At least the combat gets more and more interesting.

well aside from one (admittedly cool) plot related boss battle so far there hasn't been any plot in chapter 10!

Just endless corridors that look exactly the same.

as jrpgs go I have to say it's pretty watered down combat wise compared to games like tales of vesperia or resonance of fate

well I do not play very many jrpgs but at least compared to other final fantasies the combat system is way more dynamic and fun.

This is probably my favorite FF since 6

and tales of vesperia has fights where if you play on a difficulty that isn't easy you could be attempting them for hours

    because they are jrpgs

the fights in this are challenging enough that if you don't pay attention you can die, which is good enough for me.

I've only seen two types of fights where that seemed true, vs. monsters with rescue and the rare encounter where you need a sentinel to absorb a large attack
