Geebs wrote:

Hey, do you hate when comics are bad? Disappointed by something? Want to talk about it? Do it here. Keep it out of the other threads. This is where you can vent, and warn others about what you don't like.

This is where you can be angry and make bad jokes and whatever. If I see bad jokes and anger and stupid nonsense in other threads, I'll probably infract you. If you want to discuss problems you have with the subject of a thread in that thread, you can, but I'm going to expect you to be civil about it.

This is especially true for the moment of the week thread. Those threads are for highlights. If you want to bitch about something in there, well, I'm not going to have much tolerance for it.

Oh and side note, the phrase "moment of the weak" is stupid and you should feel stupid for using it.

And yea, how we shall make fun of those demons known as Greg Land, Spider-Man, DC Editiorial, Tom Brevoort, and heretics to the name of USAgent. Bitching be with you.

Well, a new thread means I'll bitch about the same thing I did in the other bitching threads: Horribly screwing up a military uniform. The most recent example was when Rhodey showed up at Tony's hospital bed in Invicible Iron Man. He was wearing some horrible abomination of a mixture between Army and Marine Corps Dress (Rhodey was a Marine), with 4 star General insignia and a bunch of made up and improperly displayed medals. But they call him a light colonel, on the same page. It just annoys the crap out of me, when an artist could do a 10 second Google image search and see some proper rank insignia or a uniform.

Also worth bitching about: When an artist shows a gun firing an intact bullet, instead of just the slug.

Just in the movie, unless they've retconned it. He was a Marine in Vietnam when he first showed up.

By gum, you're right. It makes more sense for him to be in the Air Force, so I never really thought about it.

X-Women looks like exploitive cheesecake. Because nothing says 'female empowerment' like a dental floss swimsuit. Seriously...artists need to get it through their heads that clothing can be sexier than nudity.

And Texas does have a superhero: the Texas Twister. He even served in the Thunderbolts in order to pay back people for all the homes he destroyed while he was drunk.

For the story of "X-Women," a major driving factor in deciding what kind of story Claremont would tell came from the selection of Manara, who's best known for his erotic work in Europe. And while "X-Women" doesn't fall into that category, the writer had no problems finding a way to tell a story with his characters that fit the artist's strengths.

    God damn it, Chris.

I'm not worried about the artist, because of Coover like you wrote Sax, as well as Guillem March's art being very good for GC Sirens.

It's more that Claremont loves to write strong women, women so strong they have to kiss one another on a beach.

Actually, a ton of mainstream artists worked for Penthouse Comics back in the day. Kevin Maguire, Adam Hughes, and Terry Dodson, are some that spring readily to mind, but there were a lot more.

    Yeah, yeah.

But the bolded part of this quote is swell. The second sucks.
Oh...and along the way there's romance, pirates, severed heads galore, action-adventure and a magnificent sequence where Rogue discovers a skill for being a den mother/babysitter and doing lots of ironing. And Betsy discovers that she has a knack for feeding pigs."

Greg Rucka from WonderCon about what he'd change:
So what would I change about it? I don't know. I'd make [comics] cheaper. And actually, no -- you know what the real answer is? I'd get them out of specialty stores. I'd put comics back in the spinner racks and 7-Elevens and grocery stores and Walmart. That's what's killing us.
I hate comic stores. I hated then in the 80s, and I hate them now (mostly since they are the same stores run by the same jackasses I couldn't stand then because "Lobo is cool") and like gaming stores they just effing suck. One of these days I'm going to go all-in to buy stuff online, but I haven't and that's my own idiocy. Still, he's right.

I like to think Disney especially would be hell-bent on wringing revenue out of Marvel (aside from putting some of their comics on the largest shareholder's newest toy) besides using it as an IP factory because, honestly, there is no point in continuing to publish new comics if that's the goal because comics in other media almost always are so limited to the core/canon of characters and franchises that I don't see the point in spending money on stories that would never get translated to different media.
