I have played a Fighter in one 3.5 campaign that got half done and had a terrible DM, an experience that on one hand was awful and awkward and on the other gave me some wacky DnD stories
most of my tabletop experience is with dark heresy

Most complaints I see about 4ed are flavour issues rather than ones of mechanical balance or fun.
Some people prefer to play RPGs that replicate the sword and sorcery fiction, where wizards are powerful, and fighters are meatshields.
Ain't nothing wrong with that, if thats the way you like to play.
But if that's the way you like to play, then 4ed D&D isn't for you.
Because 4ed D&D is a game about letting everyone at the table have fun equivalent experiences, balanced power sets and teamwork.
This doesn't make D&D 4 bad, though. In fact, it's an exceptional example of a well designed, mature gameplay system. It's just not what everyone wants.

So there's a Mage supplement called Keys to the Supernal Tarot. Basically applies a storytelling hook to each of the Tarot Arcana.
One of them has a really awesome cabal of Seers of the Throne; basically Mages who serve omnipotent godlike beings that want all of humanity kept in the dark about Magic. Doing a one-shot based around that would be fun, I think. Not entirely sure how to start it off, though. Preestablished setting and characters, or building a campaign from scratch?
E: that's a really good remix. Could do without the vocals though.
I still need to get off my ass and actually read the mage book. And the werewolf book. And the book of the dead.
Dammit.

It's my favorite NW game. Some of the supplement is really good, and I like their obligatory cross-factional warfare the most.
You have the Guardians(secret police), Silver Ladder(Ventrue types), Mysterium(scholars), Free Council(free thinkers, kind of like the Mage Brujah only not the biker kind), and the Adamantine Arrow(warriors).
The Seers are the main bads, and then there's the Banishers, who just want to kill every Mage on the planet.

Okay, I made the OP better. at least I think it looks better. certainly better than a blatant rip of the old thread's one.

What I'm curious about, is if we all got the same upgrades, or if we each got a tailor-made set of thaumatech implants.
