Hovelhof is a quiet village in Hochland, in the North of the Empire. With seemingly endless deep woods, it is picturesque, yet slightly terrifying. Many woodsmen come from Hochland, but they rightly fear and respect the land that they live in. Hovelhof was a place that knows little about fear. A small village, the people there are pious and upright. Working hard from sunup to sundown they are truly the most honest people in the Empire. Things always change though. Rarely do Imperial tax collectors even remember the small village, so it was a shock when a man bearing the insignia of the Witch Hunters rode into the center of the village with a man tied to his saddle. Dismounting, the huge iron bound book attached to his waist awed all of you. Never before had someone such as this been to Hovelhof. In fact, none of you have even traveled farther than perhaps the neighboring small town of Bergsberg. Pulling the man off his saddle the Witch Hunter threw him down at his feet. Everyone recognized the bound and gagged form of Werner Osten.
Blood runs from several cuts on Werner's face. Saliva and sweat soaks the simple cloth gag in his mouth. Muffled cursing was heard from Werner as he flailed around in vain.
“This man is a heretic, and worshiper of foul deities!”
Shocked murmurs ran through the crowd. The foul gods of Chaos were but a myth to scare children with, surely no one really believed in them.
“Hiding among you are his conspirators. They seek to perform some blasphemous ritual. I have come here to stop them. A troop of Imperial soldiers follows not far behind me. Should any of you flee, you will be caught, and brought back for purification.”
The whole village stayed standing near the small well for a couple of hours until the soldiers arrived. Having brought large quantities of wood, they set about constructing a pyre. Werner was tied to a stake jutting from the top of the pyre, and the wood at the bottom was lit. It took what seemed like an eternity for him to burn. His skin blackened and peeled, and he chewed through his gag after only a few minutes.
“Fools! The Lords of Chaos are coming! This land will burn! The only salvation is to embrace them!” When he finally ceased his thrashing and cursing, the Witch Hunter spoke again.
“While many would simply put your entire village to the torch, the innocent among you deserve better. You all know each other better than I. If you turn over those misguided and blasphemous souls who seek to undo you, the rest will be spared. I will wait, by this pyre. Every day you will come to me with a name. They will be interrogated, and then cleansed. Should you fail, I will have to conclude that the lot of you are rife with traitors and blasphemers, and the men and I will destroy all of you. May Sigmar smile on those of you who are innocent here.”
This is a Mini-Phalla. A miniaturized version of the Penny-Arcade adaptation of the party game Mafia..

Rules
This is a traditional Mafia vs. Village phalla. No factions, no attack sheets, just good old fashioned paranoia and baseless suspicion.
Every day, you must vote for somebody in bold red to be taken out of the game. Vote retractions should be in bold lime. Vote will close at 10 PM PDT every night unless otherwise stated. Actions taken after 9:59 by the forum clock will not be counted.. I'm sorry English people (for the late close)
Standard phalla rules apply; no screen caps, no direct quoting of PMs, no anonymous contact. You get one “ghost post” following your death which cannot contain any information immediately relevant to the game. No communication with dead players is allowed. Send me links to any proboards started for the game.

You are ____, a Peasant! You toil, day after day, perhaps making clay pots, perhaps crafting furniture from wood collected nearby. Whatever you work, you are certain that you are innocent of these charges. Your only power lies in that fact. Work with the other innocents of the village to root out the evil among you, or face destruction.

I found this a little odd as well...
The smell of burning wood lingers strongly. The body of Werner is ash now, his cries still echoing in the ears of everyone who attempts to go about their business. The Witch hunter stands resolute in the center of the village square. The soldiers are drinking and laughing in their small group. You marvel at how someone can be so cavalier n the face of such death and Chaos.
Everyone looks over their shoulder with wide, paranoid eyes. Everyone has spent the night telling and retelling old stories in a vain attempt to try to remember what a worshiper of Chaos looks like. Neighbors that have known each other for years begin to see Daemons, creatures that they can't even describe, lurking in every window, in every barn. Fingers have not been pointed yet, but it is only a matter of time.
The moment that you step out of your door there are eyes on you.
Day One has begun! It will end Saturday, April 10 at 10 PM PDT/9 PM PST. Let the Chaos Begin!!
