Hellfire has one thing going for it, it's not BEM.
I haven't quested in BEM since I was specifically aiming for achievements. I can be WotLK content ready by early Nagrand. HFP, Zangar, Terokkar all cleared, and tapping on Nagrand puts me into level 68 and I'm off.
During my trip through on my DK I hit 67 at Nagrand, and cut straight to Netherstorm for the last level before landing at Howling Fjord.

I haven't played any characters in Outland since they made flying mounts more accessible so that whole flying around to Netherstorm thing hasn't been... well, a thing.
Admittedly, BEM wouldn't be so bad having access to a flying mount. Really that is what made that zone painful. Having to go through all those awful tunnels and it taking 10 Minutes to move 100yds.
So, if it's an encounter, you should have planned strategically for the adds coming in. See my initial point, that the fun of DK is that it has to played strategically (which you tried to shoot down, then six posts later, try and give an example of an encounter with adds...that you should have strategically planned for).
Except, you completely missed this somehow, you can't prepare anything strategic with the current Rune System without shooting your DPS/TPS in the foot.
Anytime you aren't using a rune the minute it's off-cooldown, you are loosing DPS. And this is the big problem with the system. You can't save runes for am emergency without gimping yourself. You can't have a DnD waiting to be unleashed because sitting with 3 runes off cooldown gimps the fuck out of you.
So then the question becomes "Do we balance around DKs saving runes or not saving runes?".
The new system gets rid of this problem because you now CAN leave Runes in reserve without a loss in overall DPS.
You shouldn't be reacting to some random event in this case, you should known it's coming and be prepared for it. Especially if you're one of the pre-assigned add tanks.
Yes, the unexpected can always be predicted. Of course.
Sorry, I ran to eat lunch.
First off, why do you care about your TPS/DPS if you're the off/add tank? You shouldn't, that's not your job. And you're raid shouldn't care either, because they assigned you a differing task (being an add tank).
Second off....why is it unexpected? Every encounter...EVERY. SINGLE. ENCOUNTER. has a pattern to follow. Even the ones that are heavy RNG based, there is a pattern to follow. You know adds are coming, and you should know about when. Nothing in a boss encounter should ever be random or unexpected, if you've done your home work correctly (even if you've never seen the fight, it takes five minutes to read a boss strat).
I mean, do you think Warrior off tanks don't stock up rage for the same purpose? Or Paladin off tanks making sure they have mana for when the adds come? You act as if this concept of having to be prepared for something is terrible and we are the only class that deals with it. A Warrior sitting on his rage waiting for adds is gimping himself just as bad as us sitting on runes waiting for adds, but if that's his job, who the hell cares?.
I guess there's a reason it's called "Hellfire Peninsula" and not "Friendly Nice Happy Peninsula".

People really find HFP hard at 58? I take all my characters there are 58, and never have any issues. It's slightly annoying until 60 when you get your flying mount, but no more annoying than it was leveling through there the first time when TBC released. And you go 58 -> 60 so fast in Outland, it's stupid.
Odd that they are scrapping ammo entirely. They originally wanted to make it an item.
late but just saw this.... This change is annoying to me because I had juuuuust purchased the ammo recipe with my saronite... SONOFA
You'll live. It's months before cataclysm goes live.
I would have even made some claim on how it'd get replaced even if we were still going to have ammo, but I think the Hyjal ammo was better than anything else you could get for at least a bit into WotLK. The only problem was where you had to go to get it.
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
wow so teh huntards are getting overhauled the most so far it seems.

A clarification of Camouflage and what becoming obscured actually means:
Camouflage is *not* stealth. Your enemies will never wonder where you are. We're trying to use the new Cataclysm water effect to put a shimmering PREDATORy visual on you. It's protection from ranged attacks and it gives you some combat bonuses, but it's not like Shadowmeld or rogue / druid stealth where players can't find you.
The idea with it is that Hunters are only vulnerable to melee attacks or ranged AEs while they are in the obscured state. If you target a camo hunter or a rogue using Smoke Bomb, you will get an error message saying something like "Target obscured." You can see them and target them, but can't use your attacks. Imagine they are behind a pillar or something. You can try and get off an AE near them or you can move to melee.
As most of you know, we tried Camo once before, but because it was true stealth it was very hard to balance, plus it felt like we were just handing out the same cool abilities to every class instead of coming with unique mechanics. Hunters were so overwhelmingly excited about the basic idea that we wanted to try it again, but not as stealth.
Regarding Cobra Shot sharing cooldown with Steady Shot:
At this point in time it's not actually a cooldown. Cobra Shot has a 2 sec cast time, but Beastmaster has a talent to reduce the cast time to 1.5 sec (as well as a few damage hooks). Both generate focus so there is no reason for BM to ever use Steady again.
Regarding focus and how much of it Hunters will have:
Hunters will get 100 focus
The focus costs mentioned in the preview are just examples, so it is a little too soon for you to try to min / max your rotations just yet. In general, the basic rotations of all three hunters work okay on live today. With focus you might hit moments where you don't need to Steady at all, and you'll never run dry again for long periods of time like you might with mana.
If the costs of some of the defensive cooldowns are too expensive or even need to be free that's certainly the kind of thing we'll consider.
Regarding Ammo in Cataclysm:
There is no ammo slot on your character sheet in Cataclysm. It no longer exists.

Also, the weird Surv Mastery bonus: it increases elemental damage, doesn't add elemental damage (as those abilities already deal ele damage).
Also, if I get Predator cloak I'll definitely be playing my Hunter in Cata.

I wonder if you have to use melee abilities or if you just have to be in melee range to fight camo/smoke bomb people.
Hopefully just melee range. It'd be lame if I couldn't shock them in their face real good while they're camo'd.
Hmm.. if they're decreasing the amount of melee powers a hunter has, will they be giving him better escape utility?

Personally, I think they should just give Hunter one melee ability and do away with all other melee attacks. Raptor Strike, instant cast, snares target and deals damage. Having more than one melee ability is just silly.

And wouldn't you be a bad hunter if you didn't use Traps and Disengage as well as pet stuns anyway?
A good Hunter nowadays can always keep their enemy away from them.

If they do it while you're channeling a spell at them, do you lose targeting and the channel? ie: interrupt?
Yes.
Also good for when another 'lock, hunter or DK sicks their pet on you. When you feign it will choose another target.

The ammo changes is a nerf to the sunwell bow.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Actually, this may give the opportunity to UNNERF the sunwell bow. Previously, because it didn't use ammo, it was RAPIDLY outclassed by bows in the expansion. Now it might actually be worth something for more than a level or two.
Not that it matters. they really should have some way of making legendary items relevant past their time. Like, not make them into permanent uber-weapons, but at least make them stick close to the curve for awhile.

Not in PvP
Also, between freezing trap, frost trap, snake trap, disengage, wing clip and various pet abilities, Hunters have plenty of escape utility.
