is Emerald Warriors going to be another title where they talk about it for awhile and then it finally happens a year and a half later
Fernando Pasarin is the Emerald Warriors artist, but he's also doing some of the Brightest Day issues, so maybe he needs some time to get a lead in going.

I really, really like that Peter Nguyen Detective Comics cover. He did that really neat story in the recent Holiday Special, where Batman tracked a thieving Santa to a warehouse of Santas.
It's nice to see DC putting a guy with more of a quirky/indie style on the cover of one of their more important titles.
Also, Mighty Crusaders? Really DC?
I'm sure it'll be good, but with Shield and Web each selling right around 5,000 copies, what makes them think this will do any better? It's with projects like this that I wonder why the hell they don't just sell it as a PDF or CBR file at their website. At least then they don't have to kill a bunch of trees.

why wouldn't they mix in a few normal DCU characters to bring more readers on board and expose them to the red circle characters thereby generating interest in said characters so maybe they could support their own titles later on
I will say, I think I was like one of five people that really liked the Brave and the Bold issues that teamed DC heroes with Milestone heroes.
So I'd be all for teaming DC heroes with RC heroes. But this just seems like another instance of DC pushing a book out the door without any kind of attempt to see that it doesn't die on the vine.
MAGOG #11
On sale JULY 14
32 pg, FC, $2.99 US
Written by SCOTT KOLINS
Art and cover by SCOTT KOLINS
The Psy-cho Twins are seeing flashes of the future, and for Magog that appears to mean KINGDOM COME! In part 1 of a 5-part story written and illustrated by Scott Kolins, Magog races across the U.S./Canadian border to stop an experiment gone wrong at S.T.A.R. Labs, and it becomes clear he’s witnessing the birth of N-I-L-8, a major player from KINGDOM COME!
I burst out laughing for a solid minute.
On a more positive note, it looks like we'll be getting triple Morrison Batman three months in a row, and that Neal Adams thing is promising.
And I guess I need to start actually reading David Hine's Batman stuff before Detective hunh.

To keep that sort of balance between new and established characters going, DiDio then announced that DC would be printing a series called Weird Worlds, which would have one existing DC character side-by-side with new characters in each issue. "And we've got some great creators on board," DiDio said. "We've got to be trying new things, we've got to grow."

You all should feel bad.
10 heroes
9 issues
You're all commie nazis, which makes it even more senseless because you guys would love a comic about your communist brothers and sisters in China.
I mean, come on, the Chinese Superman is a guy who achieved perfect enlightenment by touching an ancient artifact, and a guy who can cure tumors by whistling, that's just cool.
Or are they going to condense two of them into an issue?

Issue #1 was Perfect Phsyician
2 was Celestial Archer
3 was Thundermind
4 was Immortal Man in Darkness
5 was General Augustus in Iron
6 was Ghost Fox Killer
7 is Seven Deadly Brothers (get it?)
8 is Shaolin Robot
9 is Mother of Champions
so Socialist Red Guardsmen either shares with Mother of Champions, doesn't get one, or dies so it turns into the Great Nine.

That sounds like fun, but then I'm a huge mark for anthology-style titles. Is that all the info currently available on it?

pretty much
While I understand that Weird Worlds was an old DC title, I think they should name it something more marketable

I agree about the lack of marketability the title Weird Worlds has.
Something simple like DC Showcase, and then you have A-list talent on done in one issues, like Jim Lee doing issue #1 and JH Williams or Quitley or Mahnke or Cassady doing subsequent issues. "Great Creators" may truly be that, but it's also a way of saying but not saying second tier/less marketable talent (which could be just as good, don't mistake me, but lacking the name impact needed to make people not think the book is Brave and the Bold part deux),
I really like the covers that this Stanley "Artgerm" Lau has been doing recently.
Restricting Red Circle heroes on a team with each other just puts them in a ghetto that makes them easier to ignore. I don't know what the thinking behind it is.
I heard The Web & The Shield were actually okay. Is this truth?

The Shield is really, really good and I will miss it when its gone.
Also, I am stupidly excited for X-Files/30 Days of Night
Wow, looking at that Detective Comics cover it looks like Batwoman got a sex change... For everyone wondering what the hell I'm talking about, June's solicitations promised a Batwoman and Question return in July.
Good on Hine for getting both Azrael and, from what it looks like, the full-time Detective Comics gig though. His writing was pretty much the only bright spot in the Batman books during the three Battle for the Cowl months.

isn't that basically what the brave and the bold does/can do?
Well, hopefully Weird Worlds won't be written by JMS, so there's that.
But I imagine its sales will be comparable to every other anthology title of the past several years. Even Brave and the Bold, with the combination of Mark Waid and George Perez, failed to sell very well.

So, I was under the impression that JMS was pretty good, based on his Spiderman run (which I didn't read much of). Was I under the wrong impression?
I read a few Brave and the Bold by him and they weren't what I'd call very good.
Alot of people have varying opinions of his work. But regardless of my own opinion he's gained acclaim in comics for his Spider-man, Thor, and to a lesser extent, Silver Surfer: Requiem and other miniseries. He's also a big name in TV and movies, and worked on several big Animated properties in the 80's.
As for whether or not he's good? Read some more of his stuff to test the waters. No one can tell you for sure whether or not you'll like someone. I know for sure I've disagreed with many over my opinion of JMS. But, look at what seems to get the most word of mouth and give it a shot to see if you want to pursue more of his stuff.

The Brave and the Bold with Aquaman and Etrigan teaming up to bitch slap cthulu was sheer awesome.

I liked his Spider-Man and Thor, I just thought that his Brave and the Bold was really maudlin. And not really fun to read.
Like, a story where Batman teams up with Robbie Reed, the owner of the Hero Dial? Awesome! A story where Robbie Reed gives the Hero Dial to someone else so they'll use it and die, and everyone stands around pouting? Considerably less awesome.
All his stories sounded fun in theory, but I found the execution lacking. But I've only read Flash/Blackhawks, Brother Power/Batman, and Dial H for Hero/Batman, so maybe he got better.
Posts
Only two of those seem like highlights. And two others seem like disincentives
David Hine and the Lex Luthor stuff isn't that big, but more an FYI (since Nicieza moved to Red Robin)
Fernando Pasarin is the Emerald Warriors artist, but he's also doing some of the Brightest Day issues, so maybe he needs some time to get a lead in going.
McDaniel was one of the genuine Highlights
