Hmmm. Thinking about it, I guess I usually create female avatars or choose the female character option, even in games that are played in first person perspective.

I don't really know why I do this.

My difficulty here may stem from the fact that I just got in and don't know what you guys are talking about specifically, but why is creating an aesthetically pleasing character creepy now?

the question was "why do you play a girl character" and someone was like "well in a third person shooter i'd rather look at a lady's ass than a dude's for hours"

and people are like "damn dude stop slobberin' ya perv"

but then it got sucked into the feedback of "women are temples don't actually say they are pretty or you are a monster who is one day going to serial rape and murder young women"

dude that is not what we are saying at all

I am just pointing out that the initial statement of "well in a third person shooter i'd rather look at a lady's ass than a dude's for hours" is a pretty sexist thing to say because it implies that in this context the male character exists not to provide sexual satisfaction yet the female avatar does

    what

no, it means the male character won't provide sexual satisfaction for that person

which is not surprising for a heterosexual male!

    man this is totally circular

anything can be 'for' that purpose if it has that effect, via this logic

god, i love when women swallow my cum. it is great, and when i find myself growing closer to a woman it's an activity i encourage.

ergo in my opinion women are meant to swallow my cum and any other use they have is just ancillary

I am making a note of the number of posts along the lines of 'I'm a dude and I use a female avatar to con other dudes out their phat lootz' because god damn, assholes, way to make it even more difficult to be a female on the internet.

Did you ever read the SA saga on doing this in EQ back many years ago? It's amazing and hilarious in it's patheticness of the male population.

No, and it probably was kind of funny, but it also leads to guys on the internet going absolutely fucking nuts on anyone who has the temerity to act detectably female online, because that means you "want attention". You can't possibly just be being yourself.

    Raar.

I was once guilded with a girl in WoW that was like "Hey, can one of you help me with a quest?" and like, 4 people jumped on her "WHAT? YOU CAN'T DO IT YOURSELF!" so I responded with "Sure, I'll help." "WHITE KNIGHT! WHITE KNIGHT!"

Like, what the fuck just happened?

And I'm not saying that men posing as women to exploit the male population, and females doing it themselves, don't exist in games. But it's not everyone and you can spot the attention whores with a little practice.

I make female characters sometimes because why the hell not? Mostly in games where there's lots of voice acting and what not, so I can get the other half of the recorded dialog. Case in point: Mass Effect.
Is it sexist if I make, say, a healer or other fragile character female because I think the female voice actor's cries of pain are more likely to evoke the kind of response I want from the tank/dps/etc.?
