Oh, man, these are fun. The last one didn't do it for me, but I keep going back to the robots. It has that unusual & fun characteristic of getting funnier each time you read it.

Your lines could probably be tightened up, but I imagine that'll come with practice. The style is magnificent.

Another thing I'd like to see you try would be some finer markers cause having mostly all thick lines seems to make it hard to make some details.

The Ender: Glad you like the robot comic! Which lines are you saying should be tightened up?

Adam: You're right, these big markers can be limiting. I actually bought a set of thin markers today to deal with that problem.

Ken: Painting cartoons in acrylic is something I want to try. For no real reason, I've never attempted it before.

Well, most of the lines have a sort of.... 'bumpy' quality to them?

It's not a real big deal anyway, but I'm used to looking at very crisp lines when viewing this sort of stylized work.

Arden: I don't know if I'll do a mascot, seeing how this is really all just experimentation. It's an interesting idea though, thanks.

CR: Wow, Sally Cruikshank's stuff is really cool! Thanks for pointing her out. Halfway through "Face Like a Frog", I completely gave into her whimsy, and I watched the rest of it in sort of a trance. Also, here's a funny thing from her blog:

Any more artists who anyone wants to mention will be appreciated. I love to see how other people stylize their work. Recently, I found a cool artist named Jon Burgerman. If you like my stuff, you'll probably like his too.

So first off, this is a guest comic I drew for Kyle Feduniw's Lolable Comics. He's got a thread here, so check it out.

And here's a bunch of drawings I made this summer. Most of them are from school (from breaks between classes or whatever). There's also four or five older drawings thrown in at the end. Enjoy.

You make my brain go all PEWPEW.

Awesome new stuff friend. You gotta loose the lined paper though. It adds to the childlike appeal, but once that wears off the line paper starts to intrude on your kachoons.

Also as playful and fun as these all are, the last few seem like you have taken more time and effort with them and as a result look cleaner and tighter. You should take the time to plan out a nice composition piece and really spend some time on the details, without loosing the zanyness of it all of course.

EDIT and that comic was pretty rad and you should keep making them. (comics)

Flowerhoney: Good luck with animation! Oh, are you yet aware of Frog in a Suit?

EWA: Thanks man. Making cartoony compositions has been on my mind a bit lately. I'm thinking about putting stuff together in PS: mixing cartoons with photos from real life.
The lined paper stuff was just pen & pencil sketches from when I was at school, which I threw markers at later.

Thanks! Hmm, I didn't realize cleanliness was such an issue. Actually, I'm not making a conscious effort to "clean up my lines" or anything. Maybe The Ender was right, and it just kind of happens with practice.

I found these next pictures in an old email. It's a comic I made over a year ago, from before I got all hypersensitive to pretentiousness. ;-)

They're terrible photos, but they're all I have left of this comic.

    Here's a 3.5" x 5" sketchbook dump.

This first group is from... 3-5 months ago? However long it's been, I still like the one on the top left a lot. It reminds me of Picasso:

    tiny_sketchbook_relatively_old_by_kyleharv-d2z3nib.jpg

These two (Dogbraham Lincoln and a fat cat) are from about two years ago, or maybe more, I don't know:

    tiny_sketchbook_super_old_by_kyleharv-d2z3np3.jpg

This group is from a different tiny notebook. This notebook has lined paper, so I only draw in it between classes, on days when I've forgotten to bring a real sketchbook. Anyway, they're from the past week:

    tiny_sketchbook_lined_paper_by_kyleharv-d2z3nri.jpg
