K, lurker forever, first time poster here, I finally got the guts tosubscribe and showcase my doodles for people to comment on, be gentle :)

Let me first clarify, I have no arts education whatsoever, thus I'm seriously hungry for any tips even remotely related to drawing. I constantly look up tutorials, explanations and how-to's in regards to concept, perspective, digital shading, etc..
I recently started up a hobby site where I draw a weekly (or so'ish) single pannel strip about Facebook games, news and applications, called The Lazebook.

Some of my recent doodles:

These I have done years ago, they were modeled after characters from Puzzle Pirates (kind of lego like), hence no noses or pupils:

..and a strip from The Lazebook, done last month:

002quv.png, what do you think?

your going to get the general advice on how to get better and most likely if you just do a search on "lurker" "first" "timer" youll get to read in advance what most of your critiques will look like.

I have a propsoed exercise, other than the draw from life yadda yadda.

Try exactly duplicate other sucessfully done cartoons . Then try to draw the same charachter in a slight different pose. IT might teach you something about drawing cartoons. Depends on if you end up studying or just mindlessly copying.

If you go the "draw other succesfull cartoons" I highly recommend Calvin and Hobbes- Great expressions and great art mixed with hilarious comics and insightful observations all rolled into one godly package.

Just checked Calvin and Hobbes, great expressions indeed, think I'll be lurking around there alot.
I already do the mimicking other cartoonists and put my own twist to it, kind of my drawing workout, Applegeeks' Hawk is one of the greatest influences on my drawings, as for colors, I like the style of Woody Hearn from Gucomics, would definitely like to reach that level of lights and shades details.

Thanks for the great tips, keep'um coming :)
