I'm not saying they didn't fit the setting. But in comparison with pretty much every other boss character out there, they were lacking in the story department.

Hell, even Python in Portable Ops had a better story than the four main Cobras.

    thats the thing, though

    that was intentional

E: wait I worded that wrong shit

    EE: there we go

Even so, I thought that the game was really lacking story in the middle there. The story had a good start and end, but everything in the middle was a bit simple and straightforward. More interesting characters might have carried the story a bit better.

Honestly, the boss that you fight before The Fury had more personality, wit, and challenge than all the rest of the Cobras combined.

Something's Missing from the Japanese Version of Peace Walker
Kojima posted yesterday night that Peace Walker has been given a T rating in America. This would correspond to 13 years in Japan and 15 years in Europe. In Japan, however, the game's rating is actually C, or 15 years.

To keep the Japanese rating from a D, it seems Kojima Productions had to remove something from the game. Wrote Kojima, the PSP is supported by younger people, and so during Peace Walker's production the staff made the effort to avoid grotesque scenes. However, there's "a certain scene," a "standard element that's "absolutely necessary for MGS," that apparently could not make it under the C rating. They had to remove this scene from the Japanese version of the game.

The European and North American versions of the game are the original version without the adjustments made for the Japanese version. Kojima suggests that people try to compare the versions if they get the chance. Although for those who will be playing the Japanese version, he assures that it's just fine -- the game's feel hasn't changed.

Kojima seems to be concerned about the need to remove the content for the rating. "There's tolerance for fantasy games, but for games where you show war or real violence between people, you apparently can't complain about anything. With this, it seems impossible to communicate something through games."

Apparently they've also confirmed that all the product placement featured in the game is Japan exclusive, and will not be seen in the American/European versions.

i just finally got a ps3 and just beat mgs4.

can someone explain something to me
what the hell was solidus? i know the reasons behind the cloning project got explained but eva forgot to mention anything about solidus and why he was made, i might of missed this but as far as i can tell he was there solely so his body could be harvested to rebuilt big boss so he could say hi to snake and die again.

oh and is this right, you only get two callable codec people through the whole game? the hell.

Solidus was designed to be a 'perfect' clone of Big Boss. Balanced in all of his attributes such as wisdom, along with combat skill. Snake was ultimately the 'inferior' test bed to perferct Liquid. Basically Big Boss on steriods. Snake of course overcomes that handicap because he is the deadiest son of a bitch on Earth. While the novel is terrible for the most part, the novelization of MGS goes in depth with Dr. Clark overseeing the birth of Liquid, Solid and Solidus. They were slated for government service before they were out of the womb. It's also funny because it mocks the whole, 'dominant gene' business in a rather funny way.

I loved MGS4 but I had never played the rest of the series so I thought I'd go back and play the rest of the series starting with the GC remake of the Metal Gear Solid. Only it is kicking my ass. I haven't been able to get out of the Tank Hanger without getting killed. Is the game really this difficult or do I just suck ass?

I haven't played MGS4, does it rectify the atrocities that MGS1 visited upon Mendelian genetics?

no, i'm afraid to say that both biologists, physicists, and any scientist specialising in nanotechnology will literally die if they glimpse an MGS4 cutscene attempting to explain why revolver ocelot is speaking like liquid snake

Which part? The laser hall or the guards?

If it's the guards, just pick them off one by one. Hiding under the tank is a good place to do it. All you need to do in that entire area is get down stairs and hit the elevator call button. The items you can pick up later, and it's easier to do so with the elevator as a starting position.

I never get the complaints about the science in MGS. It's a fictional, wacky version of the universe where these things work differently. I can accept that.

The first half of MSG3 is the worst; the game gets considerably better after the half-way point. Or so I think. In particular, playing through the same forest section twice does get old fast.
